Pantech Laser, a Slim Phone with Great Features

Over the past few years, Pantech is continuously designed sharp-looking and solid phone. One of those phones is Pantech Laser with an impressively slim design. The features offered are also attractive such as a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3 MP camera, 3G, GPS and many more. In details, let’s have a look at the review below.

Pantech Laser appears in a very slim design for such a touch screen with slide-out full QWERTY keyboard measuring 113.8 x 57.9 mm and only 10 mm thick. The phone is also not heavy at all weighing 115 grams. Located on the front is 3.1 inches AMOLED resistive touch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The AMOLED technology made the display look vibrant, colorful, and sharp. Right below the display are three physical buttons for Call, Back and End Call function. Going to left side of the phone, there is a Screen Lock button and to the right side is volume rocker. MicroUSB port is located on the top side of the phone. The back side features 3 megapixels camera and speakerphone. There is no headset jack available on the phone. Slide the phone to the right and there is a full QWERTY keyboard arranged in 4 rows. In addition, the display will automatically change to landscape view when you slide it open.

Come to its interface, Pantech Laser offers three different Home screens; the main welcome screen, a screen for favorite application, and another screen for favorite contacts. On the bottom row of each home screen are shortcuts for accessing phone dialer, contacts list, messaging, and main menu. Text input is done using physical QWERTY keyboard and virtual keyboard on the touch screen. Unfortunately, the virtual on-screen keyboard only comes with alphanumerical keypad with handwriting recognition.

Pantech Laser is also equipped by 3 megapixels camera without autofocus or flash. The camera can capture image in five resolutions with maximum 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. The camera can also record video up to 640 x 480 pixels resolution 15 frames per second. To store data, Pantech Laser has 112 MB of internal memory and additional external memory via microSD card up to 32 GB.

Multimedia features of Pantech Laser include music player, video player, and games. The music player comes with standard interface that showing the artist, track title, on-screen controls, and an animated rotating CD while playing music. For the video player, the interface comes quite similar with the music player but only limited in playing video of MP4/H.263 formats.

Pantech Laser runs on a quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA network as well as HSDPA 3.6 Mbps and HSUPA data network. Internet experience is supported by pre-installed Opera Mini web browser with WAP 2.0/xHTML and HTML support. Other connectivity includes WiFi, Bluetooth and microUSB connection. There is also GPS navigation system with A-GPS support.

Messaging features of Pantech Laser are SMS, MMS, Email, and Instant Messaging. Other features include SNS integration, Organizer, Voice memo/dial, and Java MIDP 2.0. Last but not least, Pantech Laser is powered by standard battery Li-Ion 1000 mAh. The battery life is rated up to 5 hours of talk time and 14 days of standby time.
