Samsung Galaxy Prevail appears in a full touchscreen design with black plastic materials, rounded edges and metal band around the side. It is very compact and light measuring 113 x 57 x 12 mm and weighing 108 grams. The front side is resided by 3.2 inches capacitive touchscreen with 256K colors supports. Below the screen are four touch-sensitive keys for Menu, Home, Back and Search function. On the right side, there is camera shutter button while on the left side features volume rocker and microSD card slot. The top side is resided by 3.5 mm headset jack and power button. MicroUSB charging port is located on the bottom side. The back side features 2 megapixels camera.

Samsung Galaxy Prevail works on Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) and 800 MHz Qualcomm processors. Unlike other Samsung smartphone that is using TouchWiz UI, Prevail comes with Android's original flavor user interface. Home screens consist of 5 different pages with customizable widgets and icons on each of them. Each pages also come with three static buttons on the bottom side that features dial pad, application tray and browser. Galaxy Prevails is a CDMA smartphone that is supported by EVDO Rev. 0 up to 2.4 Mbps data network. The web browser available already supports HTML web page to experience internet browsing like PC. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth, microUSB connection and GPS navigation system with A-GPS support.

For the camera, Galaxy Prevail is equipped by 2 megapixels camera with no LED flash. It can capture images up to 1600 x 1200 pixels resolution in good images quality. It can also record video in QVGA resolution but may result in just average quality. For the storage, Prevail offers 117 MB internal memory and additional memory up to 32 GB via microSD card. For multimedia feature, there is a standard Android media player for playing music and video. The music player manages to play music of MP3/WAV/eAAC+ formats while the video player supports MP4/H.264/H.263 video formats.

Messaging features of Samsung Galaxy Prevail include SMS (threaded view), MMS, Instant Messaging, Email, and Push Email. Email feature is integrated with message inbox and supports multiple POP, IMAP, and Exchange accounts. Text input can only be done using virtual on screen keyboard; alphanumerical virtual keyboard in portrait view and full QWERTY keyboard on both portrait and landscape view. The virtual keyboard itself comes with Swype feature.

Pre-installed Google service applications include Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk, YouTube, Calendar and Picasa integration. Other features are Organizer, Document viewer, Voice memo, Voice dial, Java MIDP emulator, Accelerometer, and Multitouch. To support all of its features, Samsung Galaxy Prevail uses standard battery Li-Ion 1500 mAh. The battery life is rated up to 6 hours 30 minutes of talk time or up to 9 days of standby time.
