Huawei M835, an Entry Level Smartphone

Joining the competition in Android smartphone market, Huawei released its entry level smartphone with low budget namely Huawei M835. It is a small and simple smartphone with Android Froyo OS and 528 Mhz processor. It may not give you the best performance or features, but this smartphone can be an alternative smartphone in a least expensive price. Huawei M835 comes in a candy bar and a full touch screen design with glossy plastic black materials, rounded edges and soft-touch finished on the back side. It appears in a petite dimension measuring 104 x 55 x 13 mm and weighing 110 grams. Located on the front is 2.8 inches capacitive touch screen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 262.000 colors supports. Right below the screen, there are four typical Android touch-sensitive keys for Back, Menu, Home and Search function. Below that are two physical keys (Call and End Call keys) and a circular 4 ways directional pad with silver-colored band. Around the sides, there are power button, 3.5 mm headset jack, volume rocker and microUSB charging port. The back side is resided by 3.2 megapixels camera and speakerphone.

To be able to run all the application, Huawei M835 is powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS and 528 Mhz Qualcomm processor. Frankly speaking, the phone works very slow and unresponsive. Scrolling menu may sometimes be a frustrated thing because it would freeze for a moment halfway through. Huawei M835 runs on tri band CDMA network with EVDO data connectivity. Experiencing internet browsing, there is built-in web browser with HTML support. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth, WiFi, and micro USB connection. There is also GPS navigation system with free Google Maps Navigation that offers voice-enabled and turn by turn GPS directions.

Huawei M835 is also equipped by 3.2 megapixels camera with no flash and no autofocus. Image quality is disappointing as images look terrible with lots of noise. Video recording also share the same disappointment. Video recorded at 352 x 288 pixels resolution comes out with a grainier side. To store data, Huawei M835 offers 256 MB internal memory and additional external memory up to 32 GB via microSD card. For the multimedia feature, M835 comes with a standard media player for playing music and video. The music player may sometimes work slow but manages to show album art.

Meesaging features of Huawei M835 include text message (SMS), multimedia message (MMS), Instant Messaging and email. Like other Android phone, M835 also comes with pre-loaded Google service applications such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Search. You can also download other Android applications via Android market.
