Samsung M370, a Humble Phone for Sprint

Pausing for a while its superphones parade, Samsung humbles a bit by releasing its new basic phone namely Samsung M370 for Sprint. Some of its main features include 1.3 megapixels camera, Bluetooth, GPS, email, and many more. Closer inspection, here is the detail specification of Sprint’s Samsung M370.

Samsung M370 appears as a simple clamshell phone in Pewter Gray color. It measures 96.5 x 50 x 17.8 mm and weighs 104.9 grams. In clamshell closed, the front side features a 1.3 megapixels camera and an external display. The external display comes in 0.92 inches with 120 x 120 pixels resolution. It shows date, time, signal strength and battery life as well as notification of message and missed call. Flip open the clamshell to reveal the internal display that features 2.4 inches LCD screen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution. Below the internal display, there are navigation array and alphanumerical keypad. The navigation array consists of two soft keys, a Talk key, a Back key, an End or Power key and a square directional pad with Menu or OK key on the middle. Around the phone’s side, there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a microUSB port, a camera shutter and volume control buttons.

Samsung M370 runs on Sprint’s CDMA 800/1900 MHz (2G) network and CDMA2000 1x (3G) network. In data connectivity, it already supports EV-DO (3G) data network. For browsing internet, it is equipped by built-in web browser that supports WAP 2.0/xHTML web pages. Samsung M370 also comes with other connectivity such as Bluetooth ver. 2.1 with EDR, microUSB connection and GPS navigation system.

For camera features, Samsung M370 is equipped by 1.3 megapixels camera with no flash. It comes with capability of capturing images up to 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution. The camera can also be functioned as a camcorder. For the storage, Samsung M370 provides 2 MB internal memory. Unfortunately, there is no microSD card slot to provide external memory. In addition, it also provides 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM to make all features run smoothly. Although it is a basic phone, M370 also has multimedia feature. Its multimedia feature is equipped with media player for playing music and video. The music player manages to play music coming in MP3/AAC+ formats while the video player supports video in MP4/H.263 formats.

Samsung M370 also comes with messaging feature such as text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), Instant Messaging (IM) and Email. Text messages (SMS) appear in threaded view that is similar to chatting conversation. On its Phonebook, each entry may consist of multiple numbers, picture ID, ringtone ID and other related information. Notification alerts types include MP3 ringtones, Polyphonic ringtones, Vibration mode, Silent mode, and Speakerphone. Other features include Organizer, Document viewer, Voice memo, and Voice dial. To support all of the features, Samsung M370 uses standard battery Li-Ion 1000 mAh. The battery life is rated up to 5 hours 20 minutes of talk time or up to 25 days of standby time.
