Review of BlackBerry Curve 9350 for Sprint

Designed for Sprint, RIM released its new Curve’s line namely BlackBerry Curve 9350. It is basically a CDMA version of Curve 9360 for T-Mobile. Some of its main features include 800 MHz processor, BlackBerry OS 7, 5 megapixels camera, BBM 6, and many more. In details, here is the review of Curve 9350.

BlackBerry Curve 9350 comes in candy bar design and full QWERTY keyboard with inward tapered on the edges and outward tapered on the top and bottom sides. It appears to be the smallest and slimmest yet among other BlackBerry phones measuring 109 x 60 x 11 mm. It is also very light weighing only 99 grams, thanks to its plastic materials. The display located on the front side features 2.44 inches TFT screen with 480 x 360 pixels resolution. Below the screen are physical keys for Send, Menu, Back, and End or Power function along with an optical trackpad in the middle of those keys. The QWERTY keyboard is arranged in four rows and individually separated. Around the phone’s side are microUSB port, 3.5 mm headset jack, screen lock key, volume rocker and customizable shortcut key. The back side is resided by camera lens and LED flash.

BlackBerry Curve 9350 is powered by 800 MHz Marvell processor with 512 MB RAM and runs under BlackBerry OS 7.0. The smartphone’s interface doesn’t change much from its predecessor OS 6 which features directory-based home screens and collapsible notification trays. Aside its standard RIM applications, Curve 9350 also comes with Social Media application such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Being Sprint’s smartphone, surely Curve also has Sprint’s standard applications that virtually installed including SprintTV, Football and Telenav navigation.

Like other Blackberry smartphones, Curve 9350 gives its best performance on messaging and email service. All messaging services including email are integrated together. Its BBM service has been upgraded to BBM 6 that offers better integration with third party applications. In corporate email service, Curve 9350 supports BlackBerry Enterprise Server, IBM Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise and Microsoft Exchange. You may also use your POP3 or IMAP4 email accounts, up to 10 different accounts. Not to mention its preloaded email web services including Gmail and Yahoo! Mail.

Curve 9350 is a CDMA smartphone running on Sprint’s CDMA network. On its data connectivity, it already supports CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A up to 3.1 Mbps data network. For browsing internet, there is a WebKit browser that supports HTML web pages. Other connectivity includes WiFi, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, NFC, microUSB v2.0 connection and GPS navigation system.

Coming to its camera, BlackBerry Curve 9350 is equipped with 5 megapixels camera with autofocus and LED flash. It manages to capture images up to 2592 х 1944 pixels resolution, but overall images come out in average quality. It also manages to record video but limited on VGA resolution. For storage, Curve 9350 offers external memory via microSD card up to 32 GB along with its internal memory. Its multimedia features manage to handle music coming in MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV/Flac formats and video in MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV formats. To support all its features, BlackBerry Curve 9350 uses standard battery Li-Ion 1000 mAh. The battery life is rated up to 348 hours of standby time or up to 5 hours 30 minutes of talk time.
