LG Cosmos 2, a Compact Messaging Phone

Strengthening its featured phone's line, LG released its new messaging phone named LG Cosmos 2. The phone comes with dual keyboard, 1.3 megapixels camera, Bluetooth and many more. Closer look, here is the review of the Cosmos 2.

LG Cosmos 2 is an upgrade version of its predecessor, LG Cosmos. The phone appears in classic candy bar design with dual keyboard; a classic alphanumerical keyboard and a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. The phone’s body is covered by a solid-feeling matte plastic with rounded corners and textured finished on the back. It also appears about the same size measuring 112 x 52 x 16 mm and weighing 130 grams. On the front side, there is 2 inches TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 256K colors support. Below the display are navigation array and alphanumerical keyboard. The navigation array consist of two soft keys, a four-way toggle with a middle OK key, a  speakerphone key, a Clear or Voice Command key, a Call key and End Call or Power key. Exploring around the side of the phone, there are volume rocker and Micro-USB port on the left side and a camera shutter on the right side. On the top side is 3.5mm headset jack and on the back side is camera lens. Slide the phone to the right to reveal 4 rows of full QWERTY keyboard.

LG Cosmos 2 runs on CDMA 800/1900 MHz and CDMA2000 1x network. For internet experience, there is built-in web browser. The web browser can handle standard mobile web pages but hardly manage to open more complex HTML web pages. Other connectivity provided is Bluetooth and microUSB connection.

Powered by dual keyboard, surely Cosmos 2 is aiming as a messaging phone. Messaging features available are SMS, MMS, email and Instant Messaging. Email feature allows you to send and receive email through your standard POP or IMAP accounts. And, Instant Messaging feature keeps you stay connected to your AIM, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo! buddy lists. Text input can be done by using alphanumerical keypad with T9 predictive word entry on the front side or by using the slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

LG Cosmos 2 is also equipped by 1.3 megapixels camera without autofocus or flash. Some of camera features are brightness, self-timer, white balance presets, night mode, color effects, noise reduction and shutter sounds. The camera can also record video. For the storage, there is total 90 MB internal memory but 48 MB are used of out the box, leaving only 19 MB. No need to worry as it also comes with additional external memory via microSD card up to 32 GB. For multimedia feature, Cosmos 2 is equipped by media player for playing music and video. The media player comes with a basic interfaces as well as setting and cannot run in the background.

One new feature of Cosmos 2 is Document Viewer that allows you to open MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF files. Supporting its features, LG Cosmos 2 uses standard battery Li-Ion 900 mAh that is rated up to 6 hours of talk time or 34 days of standby time.
