Pantech Crossover Review And Detail Specifications

Pantech, greatly known for their line of feature phones finally released its first Android smartphone under the name of Pantech Crossover. Implies for its name, it comes as a "crossover" phone between feature phone and smart phone. In details, let’s have a look at the review below.

Pantech Crossover comes with full touch screen design plus slide full QWERTY keyboard with angular cutout corners. It also appears in a sporty and rugged look although it doesn't meet any military specifications for durability. It is quite slim for a slider phone measuring 113 x 58 x 14 mm but a little heavy weighing 146 grams. The display features 3.1 inches HVGA capacitive touch screen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. Below the display there are two touch sensitive keys for Back and Search function as well as two physical keys for Menu and Home function. Exploring around the side of Crossover, there are a Power or Screen Lock button, a 3.5 mm headset jack, a Function button, a volume rocker, a camera key and a microUSB port. The back side is resided by camera lens and speakerphone. Slide the Crossover to the right and there is full QWERTY keyboard arranged in 4 rows.

As a smartphone, Pantech Crossover is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo OS and 600 MHz processor with 512 MB RAM. The interface does not really resemble default Android interface. On the Home screen, there are four static icons arrange in single row on the bottom and have a slightly different design. To unlock the screen, you will be asked to “peel off” a sticker.

Pantech Crossover runs on GSM network and can hit HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps data network. Built-in web browser with WAP, xHTML and HTML support is available to surf internet. Other connectivity is WiFi, Bluetooth, and microUSB connection as well GPS navigation system.

Pantech Crossover is also equipped by 3 megapixels camera with autofocus that can capture images up to four different resolutions. The camera can also record video in 800 x 480 pixels resolution at 18 fps. To store data, Pantech Crossover provides external memory up to 32 GB via microSD card. For multimedia features, it comes with music player and video player. The music player offers standard looking of interface displaying album cover, on-screen controls, and track information as a song is playing. The video player comes surprisingly as it manages to play a video encoded in MPEG-4 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

Come with full QWERTY keyboard, surely Pantech Crossover offers great messaging experience. The messaging features available include SMS (threaded view), MMS, Instant Messaging and Email. Text Input can be done using not only physical QWERTY keyboard but also virtual on-screen keyboard.

Other features of Pantech Crossover are pre-installed Google applications, Organizer, unit converter, data manager, document viewer, speakerphone and accelerometer. Lastly, Pantech Crossover is powered by standard battery Li-ion 1.500 mAh. The battery is rated up to 5 hours of talk time or 15 days of standby time.
