Motorola Droid Pro appears with candybar design and combination of touch screen and portrait QWERTY keyboard measuring 119 x 60 x 11.7 mm. It is manly made of black and silver plastic chassis that makes it considerably light weighing 134 grams. Located on the front is 3.1 inches capacitive touch screen in portrait orientation with 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 16M colors support. Below the screen are four touch-sensitive Android navigation keys for Menu, Home, Back and Search function. Those keys are still integrated with the screen and separated from the physical 4 rows QWERTY keyboard. Around the side of the phone, there are user-customizable shortcut key, Power key, 3.5 mm headset jack, volume rocker and microUSB charging port. The back side is resided by 5 megapixels camera with dual LED flash and speakerphone.
Motorola Droid Pro runs on Android OS v2.2 (Froyo) and powered by 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor with 512 MB RAM and 2 GB ROM. Most part of this phone is stocked by Android with some improvement in business features and security feature. In business feature, there is a unified calendar that holds Exchange and Google calendar synchronizing and a full version of QuickOffice that allows you to view and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. In security feature, Droid Pro is equipped by AuthenTec IPSec multi-headed VPN integration, complex password and remote device support as well as microSD card wipe capabilities.
Droid Pro is a world phone that supports both CDMA and GSM network. In US, Droid Pro can only work with Verizon CDMA network. Once you are abroad outside US, Droid Pro will run on global GSM network. CDMA network offers Verizon’s EVDO Rev. A data network while GSM network offers HSDPA and HSUPA data network. The stock Android web browser supports HTML and Adobe Flash that make web pages load pretty fast. Other connectivity includes WiFi. WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth, DLNA, microUSB connection and GPS navigation system with VZ navigator and Google Map integration.
Droid Pro is also equipped by 5 megapixels camera with autofocus and dual LED flash. Image quality is rather disappointing as images look grainy with poor detail and oversaturated colors. Camera settings are also limited, only feature several scene and effect settings. The camera can also record video in DVD quality (720x480 pixels resolution) at 26-30 fps and share similar camera quality. To store data, there is 1.5 GB internal memory and additional external memory up to 32 GB via microSD card.
Come to multimedia feature, Droid Pro is supported by stock Android music player and video player. If it doesn’t suit you, you can download another media player application available at Android Market. The media player allows you to play music of MP3/WAV/WMA/AAC+ formats and videos of MP4/WMV/H.263/H.264 formats. For messaging features, Motorola Droid Pro comes with unified inbox to hold SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, and Instant Messaging. There are also pre-loaded Google service applications, Organizer, Voice memo/dial, Java MIDP emulator and Accelerometer. Lastly, Motorola Droid Pro is powered by extended battery Li-Ion 1860 mAh that is rated up to 6.5 hours of talk time or up to 13 days of standby time.
