Strengthened its position in smartphone market, HTC in collaboration with Facebook released its fresh new smartphone namely HTC Status. The main feature of the phone is a dedicated Facebook key for direct access in updating Facebook status. Aside from that, the phone is also powered by massive features. Here is the review of the phone to get deeper inspection.
HTC Status
HTC Status comes with a candybar design with touch screen and QWERTY keyboard. It is very compact and slim measuring 114.4 x 64.6 x 10.7 mm and weighing 120 grams. Located on the front is 2.6 inches touch screen with 480 x 320 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Above the screen, there is indicator light and front camera while below the screen are four Android touch-sensitive keys (Home, Menu, Back and Search keys), a Call key, an End Call key and a full QWERTY keyboard. The QWERTY keyboard is arranged in 4 rows; each key is designed in large oval key and raised above the surface. At the bottom right is the dedicated Facebook key that will take you directly to update Facebook status. Around the phone side are volume rocker, Power or Screen Lock key and 3.5mm headset jack. The back side is resided by camera lens, LED flash and speakerphone.
HTC Status is powered by Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) and 800MHz Qualcomm processor with 512 MB RAM. For the interface, Status comes with HTC Sense 2.1 user interface. There are 7 different pages of Home screen that can be customized by adding widgets or shortcuts. You can also personalize the interface with 5 different scene modes and 2 desktop skins.
HTC Status runs on GSM network and already supports HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps data connectivity. For internet experience, there is built-in web browser with HTML support. Navigating around website feels little cramped due to the small display, but fortunately the image and text are still readable as you zoom out. Other connectivity includes WiFi, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, and microUSB connection. There is also GPS navigation system with A-GPS support and Google Maps integration.
Come to camera, HTC Status is equipped by two cameras; a 1.3 megapixels front camera and a 5 megapixels main camera with autofocus and LED flash. The main camera is capable to capture image at maximum 2592 x 1944 pixels resolution with great quality. The camera can also record video up to 720 x 480 pixels resolution at 22 fps. HTC Status is also equipped by multimedia feature such as music player and video player. The music player manages to play music of MP3/AAC+/WAV/WMA formats. Meanwhile, the video player supports MP4/H.264 video formats.
Messaging features of HTC Status include SMS (threaded view), MMS, Instant Messaging, Email, and Push Email. In addition, there is also chat application with Facebook integration. As an Android smartphone, surely Status comes with pre-loaded Google applications such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, and Picasa integration. You may also download other Android application via Android market. Other features come with HTC Status are SNS integration, Organizer, Document viewer, Voice memo, Accelerometer and Java MIDP emulator. To support all its performance, HTC Status uses standard battery Li-Ion 1250 mAh that is rated up to 6 hours 30 minutes of talk time or up to 636 hours of standby time.
