Designed for Verizon Wireless, Samsung released its entry level phone namely Samsung Gusto SCH-U360. As an entry level phone, Gusto comes with simple design and basic features as well. In details, here is the review and specifications of the phone.

Samsung Gusto SCH-U360 is a clamshell phone made of matte and glossy plastics, with a fake metal texture on the front and on the back side. It is very compact and light measuring 101 x 47 x 14 mm and weighing 93 grams. On the front side (clamshell closed), there are 1.07 inches CSTN external display with 98 x 98 pixels resolution and 1.3 megapixels camera. The external display only shows signal strength, battery life, date and time. On the right side of the phone, there are 2.5 mm headset jack, dedicated key for camera and speakerphone, and microUSB port while on the left side sits volume rocker. The back side only features speakerphone. Flip open the clamshell to reveal 2 inches internal display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. Below the internal display are navigation array and alphanumerical keypad. The navigation array consists of two soft keys, a square toggle pad with middle OK key, Call key, Clear key, and End Call or Power key.
The main menu of Samsung Gusto SCH-U360 is categories for media center, messaging, contacts, recent calls, and settings & tools. There are also options to customize the main menu such as changing theme (white, hexagon, or diagonal), main menu appearance (tab, list, or grid view), font size, clock format, and wallpaper.
Samsung Gusto runs on Verizon’s CDMA dual-band 1xRTT (850/1900 MHz) network. Gusto can also be used to access internet through Access NetFront 3.0 browser. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth, microUSB connection and GPS navigation system with VZ Navigator support.
Samsung Gusto SCH-U360 is also equipped with 0.3 megapixels camera – VGA resolution – that can capture images in three resolutions up to 640 x 480 pixels resolution. Some of camera settings include white-balance settings, quality settings, night mode, self timer, and shutter sounds. To store data, there is only 32 MB internal memory since the phone hasn’t featured memory card slot. Unfortunately, the phone has no music player and no video player.
The phonebook can save up to 1000 entries; each may consist of name, multiple numbers, email addresses, IM screen name, picture caller ID, ringtone ID, and street address. Messaging features of Gusto include text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), Instant Messaging, and email. Email feature gives you access to AOL and AIM mail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail and other webmail accounts. Other features of Samsung Gusto include voice commands, calculator, calendar, alarm clock, stop watch, world clock, and a notepad. You can also download ringtones, games or application through the media center menu.
To support its performance, Samsung Gusto SCH-U360 uses standard battery Li-ion 1000 mAh. The battery life is rated up to 7 hours of talk time or up to 14 days of standby time.
