HTC Rhyme, a Delicate Gingerbread Smartphone

HTC Rhyme is a beautiful smartphone, covered by aluminum unibody design and soft-touch finished with rounded edges measuring 119 x 60.8 x 10.9 mm and weighing 130 grams. On the front side, there is 3.7 inches S-LCD capacitive touchscreen supports 16M colors. Above the screen, there is a VGA front camera and below is four capacitive buttons for Home, Menu, Back and Search function. There is barely any physical buttons appears around the phone’s side except for the Power button at the top and the volume control on the right side of the phone. On the back side, there is 5 megapixels camera along with LED flash and speakerphone. At the bottom corner, there is to insert the SIM card and the microSD card.

HTC Rhyme runs on Android OS v2.3.4 (Gingerbread) with HTC Sense UI 3.5 interface. There are four icons appear on the lock-screen for easy access to the phone, mail, camera, and messages. There are also 6 lock-screen styles that you can choose from Current, Photo album, Friend Stream, Weather, Stocks, and Clock. Some new features in the interface are Endomondo, Quick Launch (showing on the main home screen for displaying the current time, weather, and icons for the mail, messages, calendar, and camera gallery), and Watch. There is also Friend Stream application and its accompanying desktop widget, which aggregate content from Facebook and Twitter accounts. All application can load fast without lag. Thanks to its 1 GHz Scorpion processor with Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset and 768 MB RAM.

Come to connectivity, HTC Rhyme is powered by GSM and HSDPA network.  Furthermore, it already supports HSDPA up to 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA up to 5.76 Mbps data network. Internet experience is done using WebKit browser with HTML and Adobe Flash support. Other connectivity features are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth and microUSB connection. HTC Rhyme is also powered by GPS navigation system with A-GPS support.

HTC Rhyme is also equipped by 5 megapixels camera with autofocus and LED flash. The camera also comes with some features such as such as visual effects, face detection, manual image adjustments, and scene modes. Images quality is great, sharp and natural, not over-saturated. The camera can also record video in 720p resolution at 15 fps. To store data, there is 4 GB internal memory and additional external memory up to 32 GB via microSD card. For multimedia, there is media player for playing music and video.

Messaging features of HTC Rhyme include SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, and Instant Messaging. Other features include Organizer, Document viewer, Voice memo/dial, Light-up Charm Indicator accessory, Active noise cancellation with dedicated microphone, SNS integration, Java MIDP emulator and Accelerometer.

HTC Rhyme also comes with pre-loaded Google service applications such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, and Picasa integration. As well as thousands of Android application that can be downloaded via Android Market. Lastly, HTC Rhyme is supported by standard battery Li-Ion 1600 mAh. The battery is rated up to to 8 hours (3G) of talk time or up to 340 hours (3G) of standby time.
