The 5th member of EVO’s line, here is HTC EVO Design 4G. Come with an exquisite design, 4G WiMAX data network and 1.2 GHz processor, EVO Design 4G surely brings excellent performance. In details, let’s have a look at review and specification of the phone below.
Earning its name, HTC EVO Design 4G features an exquisite design with high-quality aluminum material and boxy edges as well as perfect balance of weight and size measuring 121.9 x 61 x 11.9 mm and weighing 147 grams. For the display, EVO Design 4G features 4.0 inches HD capacitive touch screen. Around the side of the phone, there are volume rocker and microUSB port on the left side while the left side is left naked. Power button and 3.5 mm headset jack is on the top side. The back is housed by 5 megapixels camera and LED flash along with soft-touch material cover and a metal band across.
EVO Design 4G comes with Android OS v2.3.4 (Gingerbread) and HTC’s Sense 3.0 user interface. Sense UI is very smart and stunning, delivering easy access to all phone’s features. Applications run smooth and fast without any sluggishness even when playing games. Thanks to its powerful 1.2 GHz processor with Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset and 4 GB ROM, 768 MB RAM.
EVO Design 4G runs on Sprint’s CDMA 800/1900 MHz (2G) or CDMA2000 1xEV-DO (3G) and already supports Sprint’s 4G WiMAX data network. For an excellent internet experience, there is HTC’s browser – claimed to be one of the best mobile web browser. HTML web pages load fast and there is no problems with text rendering. Other connectivity includes WiFi, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, and microUSB connection. It also has GPS navigation system with A-GPS support and Google Maps integration.
Similar to Motorola Photon 4G, the EVO Design 4G is also a world phone with GSM support. When you are in US, you can only run EVO Design in Sprint CDMA network. Once you travel abroad outside the US, you may use any GSM SIM card to access GSM network.
Come to the camera, EVO Design 4G is equipped by two cameras; a 1.3 megapixels front camera and a 5 megapixels main camera with autofocus and LED flash. The camera features support wide-angle viewing mode (16:9), face detection, geo-tagging and standard camera settings. Video recording at 720p is pretty good with loud audio pickup. For storage, the phone also provides external memory up to 32 GB via microSD card. In multimedia feature, EVO Design 4G comes with HTC’s music and video players. If you want different options, there are other multimedia players available to be downloaded in Android Market. In addition, the phone is also equipped by Stereo FM radio with RDS.
Messaging features of HTC EVO Design 4G are SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, and IM. Other features include Organizer, Document viewer, Voice memo/dial/commands, SNS integration, Java MIDP emulator, and Accelerometer. Not to mention pre-loaded Google service applications such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, Google Talk, Picasa integration, and YouTube. There are also thousand Android applications waiting to be downloaded via Android Market.
