Detail Specifications of Sony Xperia S

Dropping its Ericsson, Sony announced new smartphone under the name of Sony Xperia S. It is announced together with Sony Xperia Ion on CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2012 and expected to release on Q1, 2012. Xperia S comes with exquisite design that brings up premium look as well as massive features. Closer look, here is the detail specification of the phone.

Sony Xperia S comes with full touchscreen design measuring 128 x 64 x 10.6 mm and weighing 144 grams. The front side is resided by 4.3 inches capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors support and 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. The screen is enhanced by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology and protected by Scratch-resistant glass. Above the screen is a 1.3 front facing camera.

To be able to run all applications smoothly without lag, Xperia S is powered by Android OS v2.3 (Gingerbread) and Dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor with 1 GB RAM. Xperia S runs on GSM network and supports HSDPA up to 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA up to 5.8 Mbps data network. Unfortunately, it only supports microSIM card. Internet experience would be very fascinating as it is supported by HSDPA network as well as HTML5 and Adobe Flash. Other connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, DLNA, and USB On-the-go support. There is also GPS navigation system with A-GPS support and GLONASS.

Come to camera, Sony Xperia S is equipped by two cameras; a 1.3 megapixels front camera for video calls, self-portrait and even video recording at maximum 720p resolution, and a 12 megapixels main camera with autofocus and LED flash on the back side of the phone. Main camera can capture images up to 4000x3000 pixels resolutions. Main camera’s features include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama, and image stabilization. It can also record HD video up to 1080p resolution at 30 fps with continuous autofocus, video light, and video stabilizer support. Unfortunately, there is no external memory available. To store data, there is only internal memory of 16 GB or 32 GB – depends on your choices of phone’s types. For multimedia features, Xperia S comes with media player for playing music and video. Music player features TrackID music recognition and supports music of MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV formats. Meanwhile, video player can play video of MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV formats. Enhancing its multimedia feature, there is HDMI and TV launcher features.

Messaging features includes SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email and IM. As an Android smartphone, Sony Xperia S also comes with pre-loaded Google service applications such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, and Google Talk. You may add some Android application by downloading them via Android Market. Other features include Document viewer, SNS integration, Voice memo/dial/commands, Accelerometer, Loudspeaker, Multitouch up to 10 fingers, and Java MIDP emulator. Last but not least, is powered by standard battery Li-Ion 1750 mAh. The battery life is rated up to 8 hours 30 minutes (3G) of talk time or up to 420 h (3G) of standby time.
