Together with AT&T, Samsung regain the success of Rugby phone by released Samsung Rugby II SGH-A847. It comes with lots of improvement from its predecessor such as better quality setting as well as adding new features. In details, here is review of Samsung Rugby II.

Samsung Rugby II SGH-A847 comes with a clamshell and rugged design, mostly covered by high-impact matte plastic. It is measuring 102 x 52 x 22 mm and weighing 100 grams. In clamshell closed mode, there is a big speaker designed for PTT calls on the front side. Right below the speaker is 1.3inches external display that shows date, time, signal strength, battery life, and caller ID. The camera lens is placed below the external display. Flip the clamshell open, and there is 2.2 inches (240 x 320 pixels) TFT screen supports 262.000 colors. Below the screen there are navigation array and alphanumeric keypad. Samsung Rugby II runs on GSM network and already supports HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps for data connectivity. There is a built-in web browser support WAP web page for browsing internet. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth and microUSB connection. In addition, it also supported by GPS navigation system with A-GPS support and AT&T navigation service support.

Rugby II is equipped by 2 megapixels camera with no autofocus or LED flash. It can capture image in four resolutions and three quality settings. Camera features include self-timer, brightness and white-balance controls, scene modes, night mode, color tones, frames, digital zoom and shutter sounds. The image quality is good enough and sharp with no image noise. The camera can also record video in 320 x 240 pixels resolution at 14 fps. For storage, there is 70 MB internal memory and additional external memory up to 32 GB via microSD card.

Come to multimedia feature, Rugby II is equipped by media player for playing both music and videos. Aside its built-in media player, the media player also gets support from AT&T. The music player is integrated with AT&T Mobile music that allows you to download songs as well as music services like AT&T radio, a Music ID application, a Billboard Mobile channel, and a community section. The video player also integrated with AT&T Cellular Video service that offers thousands of streaming-video content.

Samsung Rugby II SGH-A847 can save up to 1000 entries of phonebook support AT&T's Address Book feature. Each entry may consist of multiple numbers, Picture ID, Ring ID and notes. Messaging features of Rugby II include text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), Instant Messaging, and Web-based POP3 email. For the sound notification, Rugby II has MP3 ringtones, Polyphonic ringtones, Vibration, Silent mode, and Speakerphone. Other basic features of the phone are Organizer, Voice dialing, Voice commands, Voice recording, TTY/TDD, Push-to-Talk.
