Samsung Highnote M630, a Music Phone for Sprint

Oriented in multimedia as its main feature, Samsung together with Sprint released its music phone namely Samsung Highnote M630. It comes with dual slide design, stereo speakerphone, music player, 2 megapixels camera and many more. In details, here is the review of the phone.

Samsung Highnote M630 comes with dual slider design measuring 102 x 48 x 15 mm. The front side is resided by is a small earpiece, a small status LED light, a 2 inches (176x220 pixels resolution) display and a navigation array. The navigation array appears to be different with other phone. It is designed in circular ring that contain physical buttons in it and middle scroll wheel. Those physical buttons are two soft keys, a Send key, a Back key, an End key. On the left side of the phone, there are 3.5 mm headphone jack, volume rocker, Hold key and the microSD card slot. The right side is resided by microUSB charging or data port, dedicated Music key and Camera shutter. On the back is 2 megapixels camera.

As mention above, Highnote comes with dual slider; it can be slide up and down. Slide the phone up to reveal 12 keys layout contain 3 dedicated keys for Speakerphone, Text and Driving Mode as well as 9 keys resemble alphanumerical keys. Slide the phone down and you will find a stereo speakerphone. Sliding it down also activates multimedia menu that allows you to have quick access to music, TV and games.

The interface of Samsung Highnote M630 is Sprint’s new One Click UI. On the Home screen, you will be greeted by a string of icons arranged in a row at the bottom the display. You can add, remove or arranged the icons. It comes with eight stock icons and you can have up to fifteen icons in the row. Highnote also comes with Yahoo! and Google integration. Some of Google applications integrated in Highnote are Maps, Gmail, YouTube, News, Photos, Google SMS, and Calendar.

The main feature of Samsung Highnote M630 is multimedia features as there is quick access provided. As a Sprint’s phone, it comes with pre-loaded Sprint’s multimedia applications such as Sprint TV, Sprint Radio and the Sprint Music Store. Sprint Music Store is not only a storefront but also function as a music player. Giving its best multimedia experience, the music player is equipped by three options of 3D sound (Dynamic, Surround or Wide) and equalizer with Normal, Classic, Pop, Jazz and Rock options. In addition, the speakerphone is powered by the Bang and Olufsen amplifier. Enjoying music can be done using speakerphone or 3.5 mm headset jack as well as mono and stereo Bluetooth headsets. Another multimedia feature is 2 megapixels camera that can capture images pretty well.

Connectivity is pretty fast with the Sprint’s EV-DO Rev 0 network. To have internet browsing, there is Polaris website support WAP/xHTLML web pages. You may also use Opera Mini that seems far superior to Polaris. Messaging features include text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), IM and Email. There are three IM clients available (AIM, MSN, and Yahoo!). Email service is powered by Seven, that handles email from quite much any ISP (including Exchange Web Access). There is also Sprint Navigation with GPS navigation system. Last, Samsung Highnote M630 is powered by standard battery 960 mAh that is rated up to 5 hours of talk time.
