Competing in a midrange phone market, LG released its phone named LG Octane. Featured as a messaging phone, Octane is powered by EVDO network support, a 3.2 megapixels camera, GPS, dual displays and dual keyboard. How the performance is, let’s have a look at full details and specifications below.
LG Octane comes with a clamshell design with two displays and two keypads measuring 107 x 55 x 16 mm and weighing 128 grams. On the front side, there is the first display, 1.76 inches TFT external display. The external displays can show the phone’s standard functions, such as dial a number, messaging, viewing or adding a contact, accessing music, and looking at saved pictures as well as a self-portrait viewfinder. Below the external display, there is the first keypad arranged in alphanumerical mode. Flip open the clamshell, and there is the second display, 2.6 inches internal display. Two stereo speakers are located on either side of the internal display. Right above the internal display is the second keypad consists of 4 rows of full QWERTY keyboard and a navigation array on the right side of the QWERTY keyboard. Exploring along the side of the phone, there are the volume control buttons, camera shutter, 2.5mm headset jack, microUSB port, and microSDHC memory card slot. And, a camera lens and a LED flash on the back side of the phone.
LG Octane runs on CDMA 800/1900 MHz and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network. For data connectivity, Octane already supports Rev. 0 up to 153.2 Kbps. The web browser for surfing internet available in the phone support HTML web pages. The web pages load pretty fast and keep their original layout, but graphically intensive web pages may not be completely loaded as it is not support Flash. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth and microUSB connection as well as GPS navigation system.
LG Octane is also equipped by 3.15 megapixels camera with autofocus and LED flash. The camera can capture image up to 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution with average quality. For recording video, the camera can record video limited to 320 x 240 pixels resolution at 15 fps.
For multimedia features, LG Octane provides built-in LG media player for playing music and video. The music player come with nice interface that can show music by artists, album, genre, and playlist view as well as the album cover art. You can also listen to your music while performing other tasks on the phone, such as sending a message. The video player comes with a similar interface and supports video in MP4/H.263/WMV formats.
Messaging features available on LG Octane includes text messaging (SMS) in threaded view, multimedia messaging (MMS), IM and email. The Instant Messaging feature supports AIM, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo!. The email features allows you to send and receive email through email services from Yahoo, Windows Live Hotmail, Gmail, AOL Mail or standard POP/IMAP accounts. There is also Skype Mobile for messaging to your Skype friends (Skype-to-Skype calls are supported). In addition, LG Octane provides Social Beat application to stay connected with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Google Talk, and GMail as well as RSS. Other features of LG Octane include Document viewer, Organizer, Voice memo, and Games.
