Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-i777 is the AT&T version of the original Samsung Galaxy S II. Loaded with Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread), and 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, the phone works on its best performance. To see its great and fast performance, let’s have a look at review below.
The design is pretty much the same as its original version of Galaxy S II, but it‘s slightly thicker measuring 126 x 66 x 8.9 mm and weighing 121.9 grams. Although it specially design for AT&T, but AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II decides to keep the original design of Galaxy S II with a slight differences. The front side of the phone is still housed by 4.3 inches Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Right above the screen, there are AT&T logo, earpiece and 2 megapixels front camera as well as four capacitive keys for Menu, Home, Back and Search keys right below the screen. On the left side, there are volume control keys while the right side is Power key. Noise-cancellation microphone and 3.5 mm headset jack is place on the top of the phone, while the bottom side is regular microphone and microUSB port. On the back side, there are 8 megapixels camera with LED flash and speakerphone.
When it comes to its performance, AT&T’s Galaxy S II is probably the fastest Android smartphone around. Powered by Android OS v2.3.4 (Gingerbread) and Dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor with Exynos C210 chipset, made the phone run fast and smoothly with flawless execution. Load and run application is fast without any slowdown or lag, thanks also to its 1 GB RAM contributions. For the interface, the phone is still using TouchWiz UI v4.0. You can personalize the Home screen by adding various Android widgets, wallpapers, and shortcuts. There are three QWERTY keyboards available for text input – these include the stock Android, Samsung TouchWiz, and Swype keyboards. The QWERTY keyboards works very well on both portrait and landscape view.
As an Android smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-i777 comes with pre-installed Google application such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, and Picasa integration. There are also thousands of Android applications available to be downloaded via Android Market.
For messaging features, Galaxy S II for AT&T has SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, and RSS. Other features include SNS integration, Organizer, Image and video editor, Document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF), and Voice memo/dial/commands.
Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-i777 is also equipped by two cameras; 2 megapixels front camera and 8 megapixels main camera in back side of the phone. The 8 megapixels camera comes with autofocus and LED flash as well as complete camera settings. The image quality of the image captured is very bright, sharp and clear. Similar to camera performance, the video recording works very well to. It can record video in 1080p resolution at 30 fps. For multimedia, Galaxy S II comes with standard Samsung’s media player for playing both music and video. The media player is equipped by equalizer settings to enhance the audio output.
Galaxy S II for AT&T runs on quad band GSM and HSDPA network and supports HSDPA up to 21 Mbps and HSUPA up to 5.76 Mbps for data connectivity. The browser available already supports HTML and Adobe Flash. Other connectivity include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth, NFC, microUSB (MHL), and USB On-the-go as well as GPS navigation system A-GPS support.
