Lenovo Yoga, a Hybrid of Ultra-thin Notebook And Tablet

Recently at CES 2012, Lenovo introduces its brand new product concept namely Lenovo Yoga. It is an ultra thin notebook measuring only 17 mm thick and weighing 1.47 kg. Yoga also comes with sturdy hinges and leathery palm rest as well as rubbery coating for its durability. The hinges feature up to 360 degree that can create several useful poses and transform Yoga into a tablet. Transform into a tablet and into several poses aren’t a new idea, but Yoga is able to show it as an exciting experience.

First poses is likely to be notebook poses that is its origin design. Next, the keyboard can be folded all the way back until its located underside the display and transform Lenovo Yoga into a touch screen tablet. Don’t worry about hitting a key on the keyboard or the touchpad because once they pass 180 degree point, the keyboard and the touchpad will be automatically deactivated. In that way, you can use it on the go or place the keyboard and touchpad panel on a flat surface. The edge is also designed raised slightly to protect the keyboard if you place it on a flat surface.

Other way, the keyboard can be swung back half and serve as a base for the display as it stands on like a desktop. Yoga can also stands like a tent, with the display and the keyboard forming an inverted "V" on a tabletop. Following its poses, Lenovo Yoga will automatically rotate the display orientation without user intervention.

Lenovo Yoga will run on Windows 8 and Intel's next generation Core i3/i5 processors. Running on Windows 8, both as a notebook and a tablet will surely brings an excited experience. Yoga may appear different with other notebook since it is also functioned as a tablet. Windows 8 is likely to bring many tablet-like elements in its Home screen icons or tiles.

It will also hold 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of SSD storage. Come to its display, Lenovo Yoga features 13.1 inches touch screen with 1600 x 900 pixels resolution. The battery is claimed up to 8 hours of runtime. Buttons are placed around its side, so it is accessible in all orientations.

When Lenovo Yoga is functioned as a tablet, Windows 8 desktop will switch to the Metro User Interface. The display then function as a full touch screen and all the operation is handled by our finger touch. The touch screen itself support multi touch up to 10 fingers makes it ideal for playing a multi-player game or even run piano application.

It’s very surprising how Lenovo is working on better, more convenient ways of combining tablet and laptop functionality on Lenovo Yoga. Let’s hope that Lenovo will actually released its Lenovo Yoga product concept to the market soon so that we can experience its new technology. Lenovo Yoga is expected to release during the second half of 2012 with a starting price of $ 1.200, though there's no firm price announced yet.
