Samsung Repp, a Midrange Android Smartphone

On the midrange smartphone market, Samsung is ready with its new midrange smartphone namely Samsung Repp. Some of its features include Android Gingerbread OS, 800 MHz processor, 3.2 megapixels camera, GPS, WiFi, and many more. Closer look, here is the review and detail specification of the Repp by Samsung for your reference.

Samsung Repp also known as Samsung SCH-R680 comes with a full touch screen and a candy bar design. It is quite small on hand measuring 110 x 57 x 12.2 mm and light as well weighing 105 grams. As its small size, the display dimension only features 3.2 inches of capacitive touch screen. The display quality is average in 320 x 480 pixels resolution. Below the screen, there are navigation keys consists of two touch-sensitive keys that serve as Menu and Back keys, and a square physical key on the middle serving as Home or Select key.  Meanwhile, above the screen are a proximity sensor and an earpiece speaker. Around the phone’s side, there are 3.5mm headset jack, Power or lock key, microSD card slot, microUSB charging port, and volume key. The back side is resided by camera lens and speakerphone.

Samsung Repp is a smartphone running on Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) with TouchWiz UI. Under the hood is 800 MHz processor that brings a quite smooth performance.  Samsung Repp is a CDMA smartphone that already supports CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. 0 up to 2.4 Mbps data network. Surely it brings a quite fascinating internet browsing as the web browser also comes with HTML and Adobe Flash supports. Other connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, and microUSB connection. Furthermore, it is supported by GPS navigation system.

Samsung Repp is also equipped by 3.2 megapixels camera with no autofocus and no flash. However, it manages to shoot images up to 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. As it is lacking of autofocus and flash, the images come in just average quality. It is also able to record video, but still in average quality. For storage, there are 2 GB internal memory and up to 32 GB external memory via microSD card. In term of multimedia, Samsung Repp brings up stock Android media player for playing music and video. In music player, song is filtered according to Album, Artist, and Playlists. While the music is playing, the interface shows Album art cover and control panel. It also manages to play music in the background.

In messaging features, Samsung Repp provides SMS (threaded view), MMS, IM Email, and Push Mail. Similar to other Android smartphone, Samsung Repp is also comes with pre-loaded Google service applications such as YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, and Picasa integration. Other features includes SNS application, Organizer, Document viewer, Image and video editor, Voice memo, Voice dial, Java MIDP emulator, Accelerometer, and Loudspeaker. Lastly, Samsung Repp is powered by standard battery Li-Ion 1500 mAh that can last up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 300 hours of standby time.
