I purchased a BlackberryBold 9930 from the Verizon store near my office about ten days ago. During the following week all my phone calls were only a couple of minutes. Then a week after I had purchased the phone I tried to make a longer phone call in an area with five bars (i.e. full signal strength). Not only did the call drop after about three minutes, but the radio was shut off, so that in order to call again I had to turn the mobile network back on, and again the call was dropped and the radio was turned off. To make a long story short, that morning I made dozens of test calls to family members, all with the same results. Doing *228 send and battery pulls had no effect.

I then went that same day to a Verizon store near my home, and upon hearing what happened they gave me a replacement phone. Guess what--exact same problem. I then had multiple phone conversations with Verizon Tech Support Level 2 (the highest level) to check various settings on the phone, and to rule out any local network issues. The conclusion was that there was a software glitch in the new OS 7 system, especially since I had the exact same problem on two separate phones from two separate stores (i.e. the phones were not from the same batch).

Much as I love the features on the phone, I had to return it because I simply could not make phone calls longer than a few minutes on it. Based on the other positive reviews, it appears that this is a quality control issue (not surprising because Verizon said this phone has only been out about a month on the Verizon network). Just make sure that you buy this phone from a seller who will take it back. Verizon has a no questions asked 14 day return policy, and because of the software glitch, waived the thirty-five dollar restocking fee for me.

After making the rounds and ending up with the iPhone 4, I'm back full circle to the good old BlackBerry. Finally - it's like going back to your old girlfriend after playing the rest of the field. It's wonderful to be able to type, ie communicate, once again, after struggling with the virtual keyboards. It's faster than the iPhone by far, great screen, and feels like a professional device rather than a quasi-video game machine. This is the real deal for folks who want to get some work done.

What brought me back was the realistic size of it: the BBs had been getting smaller and smaller, and commensurately untype-able. The BlackBerry Bold 9930 is back to a good size that you can do some real business on!!! Thanks - the iPhone is dead; long live the BB!!

I just love my Blackberry Bold 9930. The entire time at the cellular store I felt like the staff was poo pooing me for getting a Blackberry but I know I did the right thing. The virtual "touch" keypads turn me into a cursing demon. I HATE touch screens! This keyboard is FANTASTIC! It is so responsive and it the keys are large and comfortable. They are easy to push. The track pad is awesome. For someone who hates touch screens, even the touch screen on this thing is okay. It works well if you like that kind of thing.

Personally, I have never had a problem with any of my Blackberries. I love this new one and I can't believe how fast it is! Internet is fast, send/receive, etc. I just love this thing. No regrets!!!
