Test Drive and Review of New Skoda Rapid

Design and Engineering
new skoda rapid
The VW Group is serious about deploying its diverse portfolio of brands in India. Keen to leverage economies of scale that come with such a strategy, the question VW and Skoda must have asked themselves is why make two specially engineered compact saloons when you can make do with one? Why indeed? And so what was born was the Vento, basically a stretched version of VW Polo, with a boot tagged onto the rear. Ideal for emerging markets like India, Russia, Brazil and future markets like China and Malaysia, this relatively compact saloon delivers mid-sized luxury for small-car money; in short, exactly what Indian customers want. What we have here isn’t the Vento however, but its near-Siamese twin, the Skoda Rapid, possibly the most Volkswagen-like Skoda ever. Sure, VW and Skoda  share platforms and engines, but their cars differ considerably too. The Fabia is a completely different car from the Polo; the Jetta has very little in common with the Laura and the same holds true for the Superb and Passat as well. In comparison, you could justifiably call the new Rapid a ‘badge-engineered’ Vento, and you wouldn’t be too far off the mark.
new skoda rapid side view
So, under the skin the Rapid is a VW Vento. Which, of course, means it has the same long 2552mm wheelbase, the same 1699mm width and the same widened front and rear track. The Rapid, however, is marginally longer than the Vento, but that’s just down to the larger nose of the Skoda. Also identical is the suspension the Skoda uses; MacPherson struts up front and non-independent coil springs in the rear. And the brakes and steering system are identical too. Skoda however has tuned each of these components a bit differently which, as we will see later, makes this car drive quite differently from the Vento.
The Rapid may look at first like a Vento with a Fabia nose stuck on it, and in a way it is, but the Skoda looks much more attractive in the flesh. The large nose balances the elongated body nicely; Skoda designers have done a fabulous job of seamlessly merging some of the disparaging lines. The new larger fenders and mildly altered chin complete what must have been a difficult styling exercise. While the flanks of the car remain the same, down to the use of an identical mirror, Skoda has altered the boot-lid, taillights and rear bumper too. But the changes are so subtle; you’ll only spot them if you look hard.

Interior
new skoda rapid interior view
The cabin, like the exterior, is derived from the Vento with plenty of Skoda overtones. The basic architecture of the dash is the Vento’s and the simple layout, slender central console and the large glove-box with the poor-fitting lid are all shared. Also carried over unaltered from the VW are the headlight switch, climate control, and the low quality air-con vents that, as we’ve found, have a tendency to break easily. And the seats are identical too. The front seats have good bolstering and thigh support, making them comfortable on long drives, the steering can be adjusted for height and reach and the driver’s seat can be raised and lowered too. So finding a good driving position is easy. The Rapid however comes

with slightly coarser seat fabric and some missing chrome highlights, such as the ones found around the VW’s vents.

There are plenty of Skoda parts on the inside though, and these change the character of the cabin quite a bit. Skoda’s chrome-lined steering wheel looks and feels good, the gearlever is similar to the one on the Fabia, the instrument panel comes from the Czech Republic rather than Germany and there is a Skoda audio system as well. Unlike VW, which uses a deep shade of brown, Skoda uses black for all these bits and that does cause some amount of dissonance in the cabin. Still, if you are not familiar with the Vento, you’ll find that these Skoda parts actually blend surprisingly well. Except for the gearlever, which looks like the chrome has been added as an afterthought.

With its extended wheelbase and additional width, the rear seat of the Rapid is also a good place to be. There’s plenty of legroom, the seat is wide and you get a nice airy feel when sitting in the rear. And the seat is reasonably comfortable too. You climb out feeling fresh even after a long drive and this is also true if you are tall. But it could have been nicer. You sit a bit low, the backrest is a bit vertical and there is that huge tunnel in the centre of the cabin, which makes it difficult to get in and out if you are the third passenger in the back. Still, like the Vento, you get the large rear air-con vent and that clever lever that allows you to push the front passenger seat forward.

The Rapid is sold in three variants — Active, Ambition and Elegance. The Active gets body-coloured bumpers, central locking, power windows and air-conditioning. The Ambition adds ABS, driver airbag, remote locking and driver’s seat height adjustment. The Elegance, the one you see here, has alloy wheels, climate control, a CD player with aux-in, electrically adjustable mirrors and a front passenger airbag.

Engine and perormance

new skoda rapid technology
Power to the Rapid’s front wheels comes from a pair of 105bhp, 1600cc motors, shared with the Vento. While both the petrol and diesel make the same amount of power, it’s the common rail diesel’s extra 10kgm ◊ ∆ of torque that makes it the more effortless of the two. It’s also tuned slightly differently from the VW, and initial progression is smoother and more immediate. Throttle responses are relatively crisp, the motor revs more easily from medium engine speeds and there seems to be more punch in the mid-range. So driving in traffic is really much nicer, with only some turbo-lag present. The Rapid also lacks that big spike in power you get on the diesel Vento, and this makes it even nicer in traffic. You do miss the thrill of that sudden burst of power and the Rapid doesn’t pull as willingly at the top of its powerband, but we still found it to be just as quick. It matches the Vento to 100kph and by 140, it’s even ahead.

Skoda has made the petrol version better to drive as well. The 1.6 Mpfi engine isn’t the most modern motor around and doesn’t feel as light and responsive as some of the Japanese units. Still, with shorter gearing and altered tuning, we could have sworn that there was a different engine under the hood. It’s slightly boomy at some points in the powerband, and it moans a bit near the 6200rpm redline as well, but the petrol Rapid still feels better to drive. It’s faster to respond to a tap on the throttle, it pulls slightly harder throughout the rev range and pedaling this car quickly is actually enjoyable. The Rapid is considerably quicker than the Vento in a straight line with 100kph reached approximately one second quicker. It’s still not close to the City though, the performance king of the segment almost three seconds quicker to 140kph.

VW has always made some of the nicest manual gearboxes, and this one is no different. It is light to use, the throw is short and this makes it one of the slickest boxes around.

Verdict
new skoda rapid back light
From the outside, the Rapid looks like nothing more than a VW Vento with a Skoda nose and Skoda badges. And that's what it undeniably is. However, dig deeper and Rapid proves to be much more than a Volkswagen clone. Yes, some of the shortcomings of the Vento remain. These are not the most refined cars to come out of Planet VW, the Rapid doesn't seem to adhere as closely to global build quality standards as something like a Fabia and this car is still nowhere as well equipped as some of the competition. However, on the plus side, Skoda has ironed out many of the Vento's other shortcomings. The diesel engine is more linear but just as punchy, the shorter geared petrol now works much better and ride and handling are much improved as well. Spacious, fast, frugal, reasonably well-built and good value, the Rapid has a lot going for it. We're going to see a lot of them.

Toyota confirms Etios one-make series for 2013

toyota etios auto expo
Toyota has formally launched its Indian motorsport effort under the moniker ‘Toyota Motor Racing’ by unveiling the race-prepared Etios and Liva at the Auto Expo. Although the series was widely expected to kick off this season, Toyota plans to launch the full-fledged series only in 2013. However, a few exhibition races will be held in 2012, with the opening event just three weeks away on January 28 to be held, surprisingly, in Chandigarh. Since the city doesn’t have a purpose-built racing circuit, it is safe to assume that the race would be held on a temporary street circuit. The main series, however, will focus on the three race tracks in India - the Buddh International Circuit, the Madras circuit and the Kari Speedway in Coimbatore.

A tentative grid of 25 cars will be made up of drivers aged between 15-24 years with a multi-tiered selection process. Step one for racing aspirants would be to apply online, with entries opening January 15 and closing on February 15. Basic training camps will follow in March and June with the applicants being shortlisted based on their performance. The shortlisted lot will then go through simulator and karting evaluations before getting behind the wheel of the Toyota race cars. The final 25 will be selected and trained by specialised coaches using Toyota’s global racing curriculum.

To make the Etios and Liva cars race-worthy, both cars will undergo modifications with the process being well underway at the Red Rooster Racing facility in Bangalore. The proximity to Toyota’s Bidadi plant is no coincidence, and the process is being supervised by Toyota. Apart from the usual myriad of safety-related and aesthetic modifications, the 1.2- and 1.5-litre engines will be massaged to release more horsepower with performance suspension and wheels headlining the dynamics department. Toyota is expected to partner with MRF Tyres as the official tyre supplier for the series, drawing parallel with the only other manufacturer-backed one-make series, the JK Tyre-Volkswagen Polo Cup.

Volkswagen reveals Cross Coupe concept

Volkswagen has showcased an all-new SUV concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. Known as the Cross Coupé concept, it hints at design themes of all future SUV’s from Volkswagen stable.
The Cross Coupé previews the bold new look of its Volkswagen’s second-generation Tiguan compact SUV. Sitting on
the German carmaker’s versatile new MQB platform, the new four-seater, four-wheel drive petrol-electric hybrid is officially described as a cross between a four-door coupé and compact SUV, which has led many to speculate that Volkswagen is considering a second compact off-roader model in the mould of the Range Rover Evoque.
However, Volkswagen sources close to design boss Walter de Silva have confirmed to Autocar that the Cross Coupé has a broader brief in previewing a new design lineage that will be adopted by all of the company’s upcoming SUV models, including the next Tiguan due out in 2014.
“We won’t rule out the possibility of adding a sportier SUV to the Volkswagen line-up at some time. But the main message with the Cross Coupé is its styling, which stands for the future of SUV design at Volkswagen,” Autocar was told.
The Cross Coupé combines front-end styling elements first seen on the Tex and Go concepts, penned by Volkswagen-owned Giugario, wheeled out at the Geneva motor show earlier this year, with heavily sculptured surfaces throughout. It has a highly defined shoulder – or ‘tornado line’ as de Silva refers to it – higher waistline, shallow side glass, heavily angled tailgate, distinctive wheel arch design and 20-inch alloy wheels shod with substantial 265/45 profile tyres.
The five-door Cross Coupé is both considerably bolder than the current-generation Tiguan, whose design dates back to 2005 and a former Volkswagen design team headed by Murat Gunak.
Volkswagen has provided its latest concept with a classy Audi-esque cabin, with a sweeping dashboard whose various horizontal design elements mirror those of the exterior, and a hi-tech instrument display combining traditional analogue and the latest in computer-enhanced graphics. It also has grab handles incorporated into the centre pod and four heavily contoured seats separated by a high-set centre tunnel which is used to store a battery that powers the concept’s electric motors.
At 4345mm in length, 1868mm in width and 1523mm in height, the Cross Coupé is 125mm shorter, 58mm wider and a significant 177mm lower than today’s first-generation Tiguan. It also rides on a wheelbase that is 26mm longer at 2630mm – allied to tracks that up by 15mm at the front and by 43mm at the rear at 1585mm and 1613mm respectively. Nominal boot space underneath the rear windows is put at 380 litres – or 90 litres less than the Tiguan, rising to 1230 litres when the rear seats are folded away.
Powering the Cross Coupé is a petrol-electric hybrid system capable of providing drive to either the front wheels or all four wheels via a seven-speed, double-clutch gearbox, depending on the driving conditions. It combines Volkswagen’s familiar turbocharged 1.4-litre, four-cylinder, direct-injection TSI petrol engine producing 148bhp and 21.4kgm of torque with a pair of brushless electric motors – one sited up front delivering 54bhp and 18.3kgm and a larger one at the rear with 114bhp and 27.5kgm. The system is calibrated to provide a maximum 261bhp.
Energy for the electric motors is supplied by a battery mounted low down within the centre tunnel of the floorpan. Rated at 9.8kWh and operating at a maximum 370 volts, the lithium ion unit can be charged both on the run through the recovery of kinetic energy (both on a trailing throttle and under braking) and via plug-in means with conventional mains power.
Volkswagen claims an all-electric range of 40km at typical city speeds in front-wheel drive mode, at which a clutch is actuated to disconnect the petrol engine from the drive process when there is sufficient battery charge.
In a move aimed at reducing weight, Volkswagen has replaced the conventional mechanical driveshaft with a newly developed electric driveshaft that sees the rear wheels driven exclusively by the rear electric motor. In four-wheel-drive mode, the rear electric motor is fed electrical energy from the front electric motor, which then acts as a generator powered by the petrol engine. All up, the new concept car is claimed to weigh 1748kg – 128kg more than the heaviest of today’s Tiguan models, the 2.0 TDI, distributed 58 percent to the front axle and 42 percent to the rear.
Despite its relative weight, Volkswagen claims a 0-100kph time of just 7.0sec – placing the Cross Coupé 0.8sec ahead of the most powerful Tiguan model of today, the 2.0 TSI, in outright straight-line performance.
Top speed, however, is capped at just 200kph on a combination of petrol and electric power or 115kph when relying on electric power alone.

2011 Volkswagen GTI

The Mark VI GTI is upon us and sport-compact fans around the world are rejoicing. The GTI is a perennial favorite among German car enthusiasts due to its solid construction, excellent handling characteristics, and flat-out speed.

Based on the sixth-generation Golf and available from the 2010 model year onward, the new GTI is an evolutionary improvement of this hot-hatch.

Following in the tradition of past Golf models, this performance version of the car doesn't look radically different from the standard Golf. That being said, larger wheels and tires, a lowered suspension, and a few GTI-specific parts are part of the equation that sets the GTI apart from its little brother. The popular honeycomb grill returns with a more aggressive look and the now familiar red striping.

The latest GTI is powered by a new 2.0-liter TSI motor - a turbocharged four-cylinder good for 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque.

As with the Mark V models, power is delivered to the front wheels via either a six-speed DSG transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox. Those opting for the DSG transmission will enjoy both a set of paddle shifters and the manual shift gate on the tiptronic gear shifter.

For the first time VW is offering the GTI with an electronic differential called XDS. The GTI now also features an adaptive dampening feature found in the Scirocco which is called Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC). DCC will allow the driver to switch between normal, comfort, and sport ride styles and the hatch will automatically adjust the throttle and steering response to adjust to the ride style.

Expect the 2010 GTI to continue the tradition of quality interior styling with contrast stitching, quality plastics, metal foot metals, and a leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. A new touch screen GPS system will be made available and redesigned climate controls sourced from the Passat CC will be standard.

Just as the Mark V paid homage to the original GTI with its interlagos plaid seats the Mark VI will continue this heritage of quirky, yet cool seating surfaces.

Outside you'll find a redesigned set of fog lamps, headlights, and tail lights as well as a large roof spoiler and lower diffuser. As with previous years, the new GTI will be available in both two- and four-door versions.

2012 Volkswagen (VW) Tiguan Review

The new VW Tiguan is here. An SUV with a parallel to the Touareg over. An SUV with powerful engines and fuel, while fuel consumption is 5.3 liters per 100 km for both front-wheel drive Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI BlueMotion with technology (81 kW / 110 PS and 103 kW / 140 hp). A van that stops the engine completely whenever possible in the city of road with a Stop / Start system. An SUV is an ideal and versatile companion for life on the road with his excellent all, great practicality, 1,510 liters of cargo space, up to 2,500 kilograms of trailer load (with 4MOTION all-wheel drive) and many clever features. A Volkswagen in the best sense of the word! In Germany, the point Tiguan goes on sale in mid-June 2011, other European countries will follow in early August, and overseas markets in late August.

One truck, two worlds

styling of the front-end has been completely reinterpreted. Volkswagen Tiguan is still the only SUV in its class that can be ordered in two versions: one for a road and designed for driving off-road. Visually, the two models are different from the front of the head (on-road "is a 18 degree angle to approach the" Off-road, "28 degrees). Both models now show greater independence, improved dynamic performance and precision of style. Moreover, as the road version of its off-road version is now available in top line equipment. In this case, an expert in off-road known as Track & Style (on the road: "Sport & Style").

systems of high-tech security

With the model change, new media such as the detection of fatigue (standard on the Sport & Style "and" Track & Style "), based on the camera control systems of the main beam Help (H7 lights) and dynamic light assistance (bi-xenon headlights) and the Lane Assist lane system maintenance and extend the range of functions available on the VW Tiguan. Other developments in the Tiguan, the XDS electronic differential lock.

110 hp to 210 hp

Powertrain Technologies has become even more fuel efficient. Three of the seven engines available in Europe - all charged four-cylinder engines with direct fuel injection - are new to programming Tiguan. The four gasoline engines torque-strong (TSI, 1.4 to 2.0 liters of displacement) to produce between 90 kW / 122 hp and 155 kW / 210 hp. The three powerful diesel engines (TDI) covers a power range of 81 kW / 110 PS to 125 kW / 170 hp. Also available as an option on the new Volkswagen Tiguan is the transmission 7-speed dual-clutch (DSG) - one of the strongest broadcast and sports automatic.

One of the fuel in the SUV world

All versions BlueMotion technology Tiguan a Stop / Start system and regeneration of the battery. The result: even with AWD, the PS 103/140 kW BlueMotion Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI 4Motion technology, for example, consumes just 5.8 liters per 100 km! Obviously, this is one of the Volkswagen SUV fuel in the world. As before, the entry-level engine is offered with front-wheel drive. And TDI 140 PS front wheel drive is available as an alternative. Thus, a Volkswagen TDI even managed to break the barrier of 5.5 liters with a score of 5.3 l/100 km of fuel.

Bestsellers from the beginning

The new Tiguan replaces a model that has been extraordinarily successful in Germany, after its market launch in 2007, Volkswagen Tiguan sprint the rest to become the SUV market. And he never abandoned this position: Although the launch of the new Tiguan was announced by Volkswagen in February 2011, the "old" model continues to rank first in new car registrations for all SUVs in Germany. Even more impressive, until shortly before production ceased was the fourth best selling car after the Golf, Polo and Passat. Very few cars - anywhere in the world - the experience of such a successful end!

SUV on all continents

Internationally, the VW Tiguan has been one of the most wanted and Volkswagen. His biggest volume markets are Europe, Russia, United States, China, Brazil and Australia. In Germany, the average market share in the compact SUV segment is about 21 percent in 2010, when he was 12 percent in Europe. In total, nearly 700,000 Tiguan have been delivered worldwide since the fall of 2007. The Touareg's little brother is ready to continue this success with a new look and other advanced technologies.

Exterior

Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the most successful cars of its kind. Since the best-selling debut in the fall of 2007, nearly 700 000 units were delivered in five continents. The main factors behind the SUV was becoming a global success of its technical features and a good economy. At the same time, Volkswagen has a design very special, timeless and attractive. However, Volkswagen has developed lines of the Tiguan - which is always a four-door model. In particular, the front and rear has been redesigned to meet new design DNA Volkswagen.
Like its predecessor, the new Volkswagen Tiguan once again available in two versions of the body with different approaches. While the classic version that was with an angle of 18 degrees, designed more for urban challenges and the skills of a towing vehicle, the Tiguan with the widest angle of 28 degrees of approach is ideal for those that often lead Volkswagen in their difficult terrain.

Because their interfaces are different, both versions have different lengths: the Volkswagen Tiguan measures 18 degrees prior to 4426 mm, while its counterpart in one of the measures by 4433 mm 28 degrees. However, they are identical in width (1809 mm and 2041 mm, without mirrors) and height (1686 mm without roof rails, 1703 mm with roof rails). So are its identical wheelbase (2604 mm) and wide track (1569 mm front, rear 1571 mm).

Style of the new Tiguan

The new style that differentiates the two body styles than before. However, both versions of VW Tiguan have adopted the "design DNA" of Volkswagen is characterized by a predominance of horizontal lines clear. As the largest of the Touareg, the network is upgraded with two twin chrome strips. Especially distinctive are the Bi-Xenon headlights with optional hidden beam (Dynamic Light Assist), the standard version the day of xenon are formed by a strip of 14 LED lights embedded in the.

With 90 kW / 122 PS (TSI ) and 81 kW / 110 PS (TDI), the Tiguan is built like a front wheel drive vehicle.

28 degrees: strong off-road version is available in the "Track & Field equipment line (base model), which is known by his predecessor, and a new version up for the first time:" Track & Style. Feature means that all new vehicles differs taillights. This also applies to the redesigned taillights on both sides of the Tiguan. Inside, the lights now reflect the look of the taillights of the Touareg with two L-shaped lower edge of the rear lights, now regularly along a horizontal line, in fact a new design even cleaner in the C -pillars that give the entire rear section of an upscale appearance.

In the rear, all versions Tiguan has a departure angle of 25 degrees. This angle may of course be reduced by the payload of the vehicle (the same angle of approach front end.)

Side profile

A clear and powerful design dominates the profile of the SUV side as well. The design incorporates strong wheel arches and even modestly furnished, a window line that rises toward the rear surface of the door and the wing mark, and - also typically Volkswagen - Casa C-pillars. Every detail is a logic of form that binds the whole. A range of new alloy wheels visually distinguish the previous model Volkswagen Tiguan. In Germany, the "Trend & Fun" and "Track & Field" versions are equipped with alloy wheels of 16 inches ("Portland" type) as standard, the Tiguan Sport & Style "and the lines of" Track & Style team leave the factory alloy wheels 17 "(" Philadelphia "type).

In side profile, the Sport & Style "and" Track & Style version differ from the basic models of chrome side rubbing strips. All models share the ramp angle of 20 degrees and 200 mm height from the ground - in the top versions - anodized roof railing.

Passive safety of the VW Tiguan

The old model Tiguan reaches a maximum five stars in crash tests by the European consumer organization EuroNCAP (New Car Assessment Program). IIHC the U.S. (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), also known as SUVs TOP SAFETY PICK, this assessment focuses on important measures of active and passive safety. The latest version of the Tiguan is certainly one of the safest cars. Its security is built on solid foundations of its rigid occupant cell, its crumple zones and restraint systems that are listening to them.

Restrictions

Volkswagen Tiguan is equipped with five head restraints, which can be adjusted to very high (the distance the head is also adjustable front seats "...& Style "), 2 front airbags, 2 side airbags (front) and 2 and the head airbag lateral chest, the second covers the entire surface of the side windows. Volkswagen could also be ordered two rear side airbags as an option. It 's always possible to remove the front passenger airbag when a small child to travel rearward facing seat. The station was reported to the driver's airbag light. Standard fit Isofix points on the back of the seats perfect protective measures for children.

Integrated front and rear outboard, the belt force limiters to reduce the burdens chest. Seat belt pretensioners for front seats, which are electrically ignited by a central control module in a crash of sufficient severity to ensure that the resettlement of residents are coordinated with the deceleration of the vehicle at the beginning. Together with rear side airbags, the security option includes pretensioners rear seat belts on outer rear seats block. The systems are connected to each other: air system bag deployment, for example, between all relevant control modules, ensure that the flashers are activated, all doors are locked, the inner light and the fuel pump is disabled in an accident.

Within

A key factor in the success of the Tiguan is its versatility, sophisticated design and user-friendly interior. This may seem obvious, but it is not. All user controls and systems that enable their duties without delay. A user manual? He is one. But it is rarely necessary. The seat design is so convenient. Volkswagen Tiguan owners to enjoy the highest room in the front and rear. Another impressive feature is that the 60/40 split rear seat can be adjusted forward and back and tilts up to 16 cm. Drive Technologies

The latest version of the Tiguan is powered entirely by new engines with direct injection and charging. In addition to versions with four-wheel drive (4Motion), front-wheel drive was offered again in some versions and Tiguan. Three of the seven engines for Volkswagen Tiguan are new programming. The four gasoline engines (TSI) of output between 90 kW / 122 hp and 155 kW / 210 hp. New Engine 3 TSI 118 kW / 160 PS, 132 kW / 180 PS and 155 kW / 210 PS - they all bring 10 PS at the helm than the previous model, without increasing the overall fuel consumption.

3 diesel engines (TDI) to develop a 81 kW / 110 hp, 103 kW / 140 PS and 125 kW / 170 hp. All Tiguans with BlueMotion Technology (BMT) is also a "Stop / Start. SUV fuel consumption values were reduced to 0.3 liters per 100 km. In the case of front-wheel drive Tiguan 2.0 TDI BlueMotion technology with 81 kW / 110 hp and 103 kW / 140 hp, for example, the combined cycle fuel consumption of just 5.3 l/100 km. In addition, the standard setting is a four-wheel drive Tiguan 2.0 TDI BlueMotion technology and 103 kW / 140 HP and 5.8 liters per 100 km. This makes the fuel in a Volkswagen SUV world.

All 7 engines perfectly to the profile character SUV with the performance of torque box and a maximum torque of between 200-350 Nm 3 engines can be combined with a gearbox DSG 7 speed. A new option available on all versions XDS electronic differential lock, which supplements the vehicle dynamics in particular when driving through curves.

This is more fuel for gasoline engines Volkswagen Tiguan is a combined fuel consumption is 6.5 litres/100 km (equal to 152 g / km of CO2) and develops a maximum power of 5000 rpm. maximum torque of 200 Nm Turbo TSI is available between 1500 and 4000 rpm. four-cylinder engine allows a top speed of 185 km / h. The Tiguan is a 1390 cm3 engine handles the classic 0-100 km / h in 10.9 seconds.

1.4 TSI with 118 kW / 160 hp

In the next power level, Volkswagen will present a Twincharger turbo and supercharged engine of 118 kW / 160 hp (at 5,800 rpm), some time after the launch of the new Tiguan. Be offered with front-wheel drive (such as "Trend & Fun" and "Sport & Style") or a BlueMotion version of the technology with four-wheel drive (like "Track & Field" and "Track & Style"). ETI develops a maximum torque of 240 Nm between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. The BlueMotion Tiguan 1.4 TSI technology with an output of 160 hp and a top speed of 203 km / h has a combined fuel consumption of 6.7 litres/100 km (equal to 156 g / km of CO2).

2.0 TSI with 132 kW / 180 hp

The program is an All-New Volkswagen 2.0 liter TSI, 132 kW / 180 hp. This engine, in particular, set the new Tiguan in place of 125 kW / 170 hp TSI predecessor. The new four-cylinder engine, the same technical platform is the largest 155 kW of GMOs is also a new Volkswagen Tiguan. As a 132 kW TSI engine has a displacement 1984 cm3. Thank you for your turbo engine with direct injection produces a constant torque of 280 Nm between 1,800 low and a high 5000 rpm, four-cylinder unit produces its maximum power ranging from 4500 and 6200 rpm. The engine - which is available on all lines of equipment, which is always 4MOTION all-wheel drive - is a combined fuel consumption of just 8.5 l/100 km (DIN EN 228), this corresponds to the value of CO2 of 199 g / km. Tiguan 2.0 TSI 180 hp accelerates to 100 km / h in just 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 204 km / h.

Optionally, the TSI can be ordered with a gearbox DSG 7 speeds. In this case, the combined fuel consumption of 8.6 liters (also 199 g / km of CO2). Speed DSG version is a bit less than 202 km / h, but the 0 to 100 km / h acceleration time has been improved to 7.9 seconds. All these figures illustrate why DSG is one of the most efficient automatic transmissions in the world. The TSI can be combined with any equipment lines.

2.0 TSI 155 kW / 210 hp

The Tiguan is the most powerful gasoline engine will launch soon. It produces 155 kW / 210 hp (between 5300 and 6200 rpm) and replace the 147 kW / 200 hp TSI was discontinued the previous model of the Tiguan. Its maximum torque of 280 Nm is always available in 1700 and 5300 rpm. 210 PS engine takes the vehicle a top speed of 215 km / h, accelerates the Tiguan to 100 km / h 7.8 seconds. Despite the high power, TSI is also fuel efficient: in the 180-PS TSI, for example, the combined fuel consumption of 8.5 litres/100 km (equal to 199 g / km CO2) and change to 6 gears.

Volkswagen will also offer the Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TSI DSG 7-speed great option. Its combined fuel consumption of 8.6 l/100 km (199 g / km of CO2), (!) After just 7.3 seconds, it moves the DSG version of 100 km / h. Its top speed is 213 km / h. The TSI is available in conjunction with the "Track & Style" and the lines of "Sports equipment and style.

2.0 TDI 81 kW / 110 HP

All three TDI engines operate with common rail injection, turbocharged, intercooled, four cylinders and a displacement of 1968 cm3. The entry-level engine Tiguan diesel line-up is 81 kW / 110 hp (at 2750-4200 rpm). This engine is ideal for customers who place great emphasis on maximum fuel economy. This engine - always combined with the BlueMotion technology (start / stop system and regenerative battery) and front-wheel drive - a combined fuel economy of 5.3 litres/100km (equivalent to 139 g / km CO2). This contrasts with a maximum torque of 280 Nm heavy (between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm). Thus, the "small" TDI is really a good fit for the Tiguan.

If necessary, the Tiguan 2.0 TDI 110 PS and gearbox 6-speed can accelerate just 175 km / h. Ends in a sprint to 100 km / h in 11.9 seconds. The TDI can be combined with the "Trend & Fun" and the lines of "Sport & Style equipment.

2.0 TDI 103 kW / 140 PS

The kW 103 / 140 hp (at 4200 rpm) VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI 4Motion all-wheel drive was already associated with low fuel consumption. Now, at 6.0 litres/100km (equivalent to 157 g / km CO2), the wiser the previous model with its 6.3 l/100 km. This TDI can be ordered with a version of equipment and - possibly - with 7-speed DSG (6.3 l/100 km and 167 g / km CO2). A feature version 4 can be configured with this engine. The manual version has a top speed of 186 kmh, while the DSG version can go 188 km / h. A major advantage of this Tiguan: towing capacity of 2500 kg.

In addition, there will be a new 140 hp 2.0 TDI BlueMotion Tiguan FWD technology (such as "Trend & Fun" or "Sport & Style"). His total fuel consumption: 5.3 / l 100 km (139 g / km CO2). Should be in high demand, the new Tiguan 2.0 TDI 140 PS version with four-wheel drive and Technology BlueMotion: With a manual transmission, it consumes a low 5.8 litres/100km and a DSG 6, 0 l / 100 km. All versions of the 140 PS TDI is characterized by a high maximum torque of 320 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm.

2.0 TDI 125 kW / 170 HP

The most powerful 125 kW / 170 hp TDI Tiguan, which is always going to be all-wheel drive is a combined fuel consumption is 6.0 litres/100 km (equal to 158 g / km CO2), which is 0.3 liters less than its predecessor. It delivers up to 4200 rpm. Between 1750 and 2500 rpm the engine develops maximum torque of 350 Nm - enough power and strength to accelerate the Volkswagen Tiguan to 100 km / h in 8.9 seconds, top speed 201 km / h. Revision 7-speed DSG is also expected. Top TDI can be combined with "Sport & Style" and "Track & Style" versions of the devices. Of course, as the 140 hp version with 170 hp Tiguan can handle up to 2500 kg towing.

Stop / Start system

The driver approaches a red light, the brakes will stop the Tiguan, will move in crowds and keep your foot on the clutch (DSG, simply press the brake pedal). This causes the engine to shut down temporarily. In multi-display the text "Start () Stop" will appear. Immediately after the light turns green again, the driver presses the switch (or simply to release the brake, DSG), and the engine starts, the "Start ()" "Stop the text is removed, the driver commits the gear and continue driving. Basically, the driver is not required to do anything additional to the traditional use of a car, but save up to 0.2 l/100 km in the use of Stop / Start.

Contrary to vehicles without the system of Stop / Start technology BlueMotion models have an additional battery information form (to obtain the instantaneous state of the battery), the heavy engine starting, the DC / DC converter (ensures voltage stability of power system the vehicle) and durability of a deep cycle battery with fiberglass mat board.

restoration of the battery

Regeneration can use the energy expended in the direction that the ideal as possible. During braking phases inertia and Tiguan - for example each time the driver releases the accelerator pedal or the brakes - the system increases the voltage of the alternator (generator), and this electricity is used to load in most vehicle battery. Thanks to the control of the alternator according to the efficiency of the motor and the battery charged for optimum results, the alternator voltage can be reduced whenever it's convenient - such as when accelerating or permanently to maintain the desired speed. The generator, you can even cut altogether. This relieves the load on the engine, reducing fuel consumption. In addition, the battery - always ideally positions - provides vehicle electrical system with enough power during the engine stop (eg traffic lights).

Revitalization of the battery requires special programs for energy and the modified version of the engine control software.

7-speed DSG

Programming Volkswagen four-cylinder engines, DSG replaced conventional automatic transmissions with torque converter. The new Tiguan is extremely fast and efficient working version of 7-speed DSG used. His most important design - two dry clutches, if the pressure is controlled hydraulically. The engine power is transferred to the dual coupling through the crankshaft and a dual-mass flywheel. I clutch handles the odd gears and clutch AR II himself more. The results from this sophisticated clutch management: when you go, there are no holes in the power of propulsion. Comfort and convenience are excellent and the pilot experienced a unique feeling comfortable and dynamic changing.

Responsible for this - and a transmission electro-hydraulic control intelligent (Mechatronics) - are two clutches and two drive shafts and drive shafts for the final three. This network system can continuously "lurking, ready to act at a higher level of conduct. And indeed it is fast as lightning. Example: while the Tiguan is driven in sixth, the seventh gear is already committed but not yet "active." As soon as the ideal base change has been reached, the clutch responsible for the sixth gear is automatically opened, while the other is closed and "proactive" seventh gear. This product overlap between the opening and closing of the two clutches, which leads to facilitate the movement described above. The entire process is completed in a few hundredths of a second motion.

4MOTION all-wheel drive

Usually the front axle in the motor system 4motion - including four-wheel drive Volkswagen Tiguan, the rear axle does ten percent of propulsive power. It saves on fuel. Only necessary - based on the powertrain and the position of track - is the rear axle in the game, step by step. This is done by coupling four-wheel-drive electro-hydraulic. An important difference compared to the previous generation 4Motion: no difference in speed is necessary between the front and rear wheels to rotate clutch when the pressure is constituted by an electric pump.

The system of multi-plate clutch if integrated into the rear differential. The pressure tank is supplied with oil by an electric pump with a pressure of 30 bar. An electronic control unit calculates the ideal torque to the rear axle and regulates, through a valve, how is transferred to both the oil pressure piston multi-disc clutch work. Here, the pressure on the surface of the clutch plates is proportional to the desired torque to the rear axle. The amount of torque transfer can be changed continuously by changing the magnitude of the applied pressure in the clutch. The system operates independently of wheel slippage, because the pressure is always available. When the Tiguan is controlled from a standstill skating or accelerated, the front wheels are avoided, since the control unit controls the torque distribution based on dynamic axle loads. In extreme cases, almost 100 percent of torque can be directed to the rear axle.

XDS electronic differential lock

New Board of Directors of the Tiguan is the differential XDS electronic option. It is a functional extension of the electronic lock is already built by ESP. XDS improves handling when driving fast around corners, and it calibrates the vehicle more "neutral" by preventing wheel spin potential in unloading the wheel inside the curve of active braking, thus improving traction.

Trim and Features

Last day of the new Tiguan, Volkswagen has also updated equipment lines and engine line his best-selling SUV. While there were 3 lines before the equipment is now the fourth Volkswagen responds to a desire among many buyers VW Tiguan wishing to purchase a hard off-road ("Track ...") - identified by its front end , which is designed more for off-road service - comes with features the most elegant (". .. Of course, smart - the new Tiguan Optional systems

Enormous progress has been made on active and passive safety of vehicles and facilities in recent decades. Currently, intelligent help to further improve driving safety and comfort. An armada of other support systems are moving into the new Volkswagen Tiguan. They include automatic lighting of the light beam Assist and Dynamic Light Assist, fatigue detection, Lane Keeping Assist Lane Assist and Park Assist latest generation of PDC.

Because these systems are adapted to the budgets and priorities of individual customers, which generally are available separately or as part of a line of special equipment. For example, the new detection system is included fatigue on the Tiguan Sport & Style and the Tiguan Track & Style. In addition, technologies such as the convenience of keyless access point - an engine startup and shutdown of the system - are the most typical features of the luxury SUV class. In addition, intelligent technologies, such as the hitch that rotates, like the VW Tiguan SUV market practice. An overview of the most important:

fatigue detection in detail

This system detects the driver's concentration on the decline and alerts the driver with a beep for five seconds, a visual message also appears on the instrument panel recommended that the driver takes a break from driving. If the driver does not take a break in the next 15 minutes, the warning is repeated once. The reason here: 25 percent of all road accidents can be attributed to driver fatigue - especially on long trips and monotonous. detection of fatigue against this action. Since the beginning of each unit, the system analyzes the behavior characteristic of driver steering. Currently, the detection system constantly evaluates fatigue and signs such as steering angle, the use of pedals and lateral acceleration. If monitoring parameters indicate a deviation from the behavior of the address registered to departure, warnings, and visual and audio are produced.

Independent monitoring, each time it activates the system, it is a break from driving for the driver, after four hours of continuous driving.

This facility does not output warnings from acute cases of microsleep, however, the fatigue detection system focuses on the detection of early stages of a lack of concentration. As mentioned, both trims are equipped with top of the system as a standard feature.

Assist the most dynamic light LED daytime running lights

Another new board of Tiguan Volkswagen is the ray of the mask main continuous system known as dynamic light relief. Assist dynamic lighting allows manual switching between low beam and most important of the past. At speeds over 65 km / h the main beam is automatically activated and remains permanently active. Here's how:

In combination with an integrated camera behind the windscreen, the main beam of light modules - in this case, bi-xenon requirements (including the standard curve light and LED daytime running lights) - is immersed in individual areas Specifies where the system has analyzed the potential of glare to other vehicles in traffic. Masking a gap between the reflector with the filament DS3 xenon and mercury-free lens makes this feature possible. With a clever twist, the whole module side (through cornering light function) and individual control of lights left and right, the further opening geometry is able to mask the source of light. This prevents light glare oncoming traffic or vehicles ahead.

And thanks to the camera before, the cornering light module can detect the exact position of the vehicle ahead, and start at a speed of 60 kmh "moves" of the distribution of light at the end of the back vehicle, or laterally, even beyond cars - without causing glare.

Assist light

For Tiguan models with conventional halogen headlights is a simplified version of the automatic control of beam available: Easy Assist. This beam is also assistant a camera system that scans the existing lamps in traffic and really - based on his knowledge of a wide range of traffic situations - it produces a beam or beam control. primary beam is automatically enabled or disabled from speeds of 60 km / h, this system also allows a considerable gain in convenience and safety.

Service Park, II Generation

Unlike first generation systems, which are exclusively supported by parallel parking on the road, the final offer parking assistance also helped perpendicular parking - that is, perpendicular to the taxiway. The system is activated at speeds up to 40 km / h by pressing a button on the center console. The controller indicates the side of the road to the parking lot by turning the indicator on that side.

Park Assist uses its 12 ultrasonic sensors (4 front, 4 back, 2 right, 2 left / $ 4.5 m) to detect a large enough parking, then assisted parking can begin: the driver engages reverse gear and do have only accelerate and brake. The Tiguan manages. The driver is assisted by acoustic signals and visual signals on the multifunction display. Although the parking lot, Park Assist reduces vehicle speed to seven km / h. For the first time this system can also slow the car actively collision imminent. However, the driver is responsible for braking, Brake Assist feature of the new park can not guarantee that the damage can not in all cases.

global optimizations were made to the system compared with the first generation: most parking is now permitted to park in parking spaces, especially in the short end of what is technically possible (for cars older than 80 cm, and more than 140 cm), becomes the edges and between the trees and other obstacles. It is even more: because space may be a shortage of leaving a parking lot, the new Park Assist is also compatible with the controller in this situation to a minimum of 50 cm in front of the vehicle.

Lane Assist

Lane Assist - a way of keeping active system - independently and carefully countersteers as it turns out that the car could leave the track. And he meets a real concern: About 14 percent of all injury accidents are caused by leaving the roadway. Lane Assist "can help reduce this. Moreover, Lane Assist suspended when the driver activates a turn signal path intentionally. The system is activated from the multifunction display. Subsequently, Lane Assist will automatically enter into force Starting at a speed of 65 km / h. "Lane Assist acquires the lane markings through the camera near the mirror. It does not matter if the lane marking lines are continuous or discontinuous. Lane Assist also works in the dark. But if there is no identifiable marking of lanes, the system takes no action.

Once "Lane Assist is enabled, this status is displayed to the driver of the instruments as a yellow indicator symbol in the form of a taxiway. Once the device has detected some brands Lane, the green symbol. Now, in full activity. If there are signs that the car leaves its lane, Lane Assist countersteers. A key aspect is that the cons-steering is very stable and smooth. Similarly, the driver can always "override" Lane Assist with minimal effort. Assistant peacekeeping course, does not react when the driver activates the indicator before crossing a lane marking.

DCC adaptive chassis control

DCC provides the adaptive control frame three programs. "Normal", "Sport" and "Comfort" "Sport" and "Comfort" are selected by a button to the right of the gearshift. Crucial here is the fact that adaptive chassis control constantly working to improve driving. That's because it continuously adjusts damping to road conditions and driving situations. The system also reacts to acceleration, braking and steering inputs. The system resolves the apparent contradiction between the objectives Sharp, adjusting and sports a comfortable ride. The comfort is much improved visible to the driver and passengers.

Security optimized head restraints with adjustable horizontal

Along with the security package, or "Vienna" leather seats, front seat head restraints are not only height, but also horizontally. In this new project, the area outside of the headrest can be pulled forward. Why is closer to the head injury has reduced the risk of whiplash in an accident.

Pivoting trailer hitch

The Tiguan 2500 kg towing capacity (braked to 12 percent gradient) is further evidence of its leadership position in the segment. The highlight here: the trailer hitch with its cable system can be manually rotated or flipped out of sight in seconds. This eliminates the assembly process also complex and often time consuming, including locking and closing. Dirty hands are a thing of the past because the cable with its ergonomic handle is in the upper left, under separate cover on the bumper. This means that it is protected from dust when the tailgate is closed and inaccessible to unauthorized persons. The mechanism works so well that only a small boost with the foot is sufficient to lock the system safely. A green light illuminates the handle when the rod is locked in place.

Panoramic sunroof tilt / slide

The panoramic sunroof (PSD) the Tiguan Volkswagen has a cutting area of the roof of laminated glass that is 300 percent larger than a conventional Golf sunroof. Aerodynamics and Acoustics optimized DSP consists of a segment of glass for the opening and the other with a segment of fixed rear glass. The roof provides opportunities for customization and openness that are controlled by ergonomic headlining contacts. The panoramic sunroof system for the protection of pinch and a sunshade panels which cover the entire glass surface.

"Dynaudio Contour" audio, navigation and sound system

The field of multimedia systems, the Tiguan, Volkswagen offers features such as the MEDIA-IN (USB), CD changer, radio, CD and radio-navigation system CD RCD 210 (standard), RCD 310, RNS 315 (function navigation RCD 310) and RNS 510 (with features such as DVD-ROM, 30 GB hard drive, touch screen, display traffic and an SD card slot) and two mobile operators in different preparations. Upon request, the VW Tiguan can be converted into a concert hall with 8 speakers (300 watts of audio) and digital 8-channel amplifier (in conjunction with radio navigation and RCD 310, RCD 510, RNS 315 or RNS 510).

2011 Volkswagen Jetta Canada Concept Technology

The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta for years has felt more upscale than its competitors, offering a premium vehicle experience not found in other segment cars. The all-new 2011 Jetta at least in upper trim level does a nice job of advancing the Volkswagen Jetta mystique. As before, there’s a quality to the overall feel of the car that belies its new lower price. The perception has been for at least a

2011 Volkswagen Eos

2011 Volkswagen Eos is VW’s inexpensive alternative to the BMW 3-series convertible or the Lexus IS convertible. It’s possible that you’ve never heard of the Eos, VW’s midsize convertible. Ford Mustang? Mini Cooper? The 2011 Eos isn’t cheap; the base model starts at $32,940. If you can afford a more expensive car, try convertibles like the BMW 3-Series and the Lexus IS. The BMW 1-Series

2012 Volkswagen Beetle Review

I remember the beginning: the beginning of Volkswagen built one of the most successful cars of all time and even give it a name. Why should it? Ultimately, it was a Volkswagen! The people loved him, and in all the continents of the world's small car was nicknamed the thought seemed: Beetle, Käfer, Voche, Coccinelle, fusca, Beetle  It includes the concept of the car itself and the symbol of the democratic movement. 21.5 million cars were sold. Then came the New Beetle in 1998. It introduced the new feeling of cars in the world and led Beetle Mania. In 2010, the final text of the New Beetle was completed in the series, which has sold over a million cars. And now? I can not wait. The future of the most famous cars in the world begins now. A whole new generation.

This is the beetle! And like the Volkswagen Beetle and calls everyone from his home, the new car is famous worldwide transcontinental - simultaneously in Shanghai, Berlin and New York.

technology focus: high technology in harmony with the environment

Volkswagen Beetle is an icon. This car has a story. Only someone who knows his story could make a new generation of Volkswagen's reality. The task ahead for engineers has been very clear. They had to develop a high-tech car affordable yet leaves no stone unturned, integrated communication technologies of our time and, of course, achieve the lowest environmental impact. It should also be a car that areas of driving pleasure at the forefront. The new generation of the VW Beetle to be very flexible, dynamic performer, and the people who developed the Golf GTI would also be able to achieve this goal.

No previous Beetle was fuel efficient. High performance is no longer sufficient to itself: A 4.3 l/100 km (1.6 TDI European) and 33 mpg (2.0 TDI American), the new Volkswagen Beetle Beetle is the most fuel efficient ever.

Design Objective: Design a new original!

The design of the world's most recognizable cars. Coca Cola bottle, the iPhone, Ray Ban Aviator Beetle - how can we reinvent a model that is as recognizable and independent? There is a clear answer to this: You need to understand the product and brand, then it works! VW design chief Walter de Silva (Group), Klaus Bischoff (Volkswagen) "understand" the two and therefore set the goal for which the beetle, "a new and original design!

Challenge with excitement. The team began its mission to guide Bischoff. Challenge of designing a new Volkswagen Beetle has been inspiring. The designers knew they wanted to develop a profile of the original Beetle than the New Beetle 1998. I am also a very dynamic priority of proportion. An interesting fact is that more than a few members of the team is owned by air-cooled beetles. It has also become a cult car, Volkswagen of young designers. And so the final draft was to be 2011 Wolfsburg Beetle - a car and now planning a tribute to the automobile industry, seed of the whole group. And in fact clear: if someone takes the first Beetle and New Beetle and put them in a room - a bit 'light shines on the roof and watch a half - could see that the lines of the back are almost identical.

Remains: "We renovated every game."

Bolder, more dynamic, more masculine. A comparison with the New Beetle 1998 shows: Only left was the old car. "The beetle is now characterized by a sports car cleaner, safer and its not only has a lower profile, it is also considerably wider, the cover is longer, the windshield is moved back and has a much steeper slope. All this creates a new dynamism, "says Klaus Bischoff. While the New Beetle has been defined by three semicircles (front fender, rear fender, roof dome above), the new. model was released for this geometry the roofline really works much lower and can be regarded as a continuation of the concept car shown in Detroit in 2005 -. Ragster a type of race car based on the New Beetle The New Beetle is bolder, more aggressive, more masculine.

These data confirm this: The new car is 1,808 mm wide (84 mm wider), height 1486 mm (12 mm below) and 4,278 mm in length (152 mm longer). This has led to new proportions. Length victory meant that the roof could be longer, the windshield could be transferred back and forth to follow the contours of the original Beetle. The new center is the C-pillar. At the same time the development team has risen to track the car and step. All of this aspect of the VW Beetle powerful muscle tension.

Typical of Volkswagen Beetle typical: a new DNA

2011 style. Despite all its individuality, resulting DNA Volkswagen design style created by Walter de Silva, Klaus Bischoff. expressed clearly in the horizontal image of the front bumper, front air intake, straight lines of the bonnet leading edge, just pulled from the line of demarcation between a pillar and C pillar and the rear style.

Beetle, Microbus, the original Golf. And yet it was possible to retain all the typical characteristics of a Volkswagen Beetle design. This should not be a surprise, after all, was the vehicle, as the Beetle, Microbus, and the original Golf, which had a decisive influence on the design DNA of Volkswagen '. "Of course, some of the long-term ownership of the beetle: These round headlamps (optional bi-xenon headlights with LED lights are available for the first time in this series), the broken wings, the shape of the sides Caps and thresholds porter, and - more than ever - big wheels (up to 19 inches), which can be integrated.

A new feature is the rear spoiler which is integrated into the design of the uniform (standard TSI engines of 118 kW / 160 PS and 147 kW / 200 hp), which actively supports the road contact the Volkswagen, which has driving speed to 225 km / h, depending on the engine, and is available in three equipment lines "Beetle", "Design" and "Sport." Moreover, the upper surface of the rear wing is always black, while the bottom is painted body color. These colors - 12 colors - make every day car driving dynamics with names like "Saturnyellow" and "Blue Denim."

Original interior like no other

The cockpit makes a visual impression. Is it possible for a cockpit to make an impression? Are you kidding? By its nature! Motorists sit in the cockpit. Sometimes for hours at a time. And yet there are cars with cockpit leaves no lasting impression. They have a "look alike" appearance, which say marketing - an easily confused with another, lack of charisma. VW Beetle cockpit, on the other hand is unique, unique, cool, classic design with a passion for details. This cockpit is perceived as something special.

All hand-eye. The form and use of color in the dash panel painted or carbon before viewing the dashboard back to the design of the first VW Beetle, but the new car is not retro. In Europe, for example, the dashboard is of a "united Schwarz (black) in the base model (" Beetle "), under" Design "team is always painted on the specific color not listed. Clients who choose sport at getting the look of carbon (carbon fiber). No matter what colors are used, the Volkswagen drivers will be able to locate all of the inside, his eyes closed.

Yet, everything is renewed. Round Three of the instruments held in front of the driver (tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge) to provide all relevant information, the speed sensor integrated (center) is a multifunction display. Select the "Design" at the level of equipment, adjustable air vents and instruments are chrome frames. This also applies to the audio / navigation optimum is in the field of vision of the dashboard, surrounded by two air intakes. This also applies to the control of the air conditioner. Everything is within reach and sight.

Back in the glove box. Similar to the original Beetle, the new car has a spare glove box built into the dashboard before, if the cover is folded (standard glove box also integrates opens down). Another classic feature: the optional auxiliary instruments above the selected audio / navigation system: oil temperature, clock with stopwatch and turbo pressure indicator. Also new: The steering wheel is especially designed for the Volkswagen Beetle with optional accents painted in the rays depending on the equipment line. Such details clearly show that residents are in a Beetle - there is no doubt it.

Air-cooled Beetle. New Beetle. The Beetle. A distinctive feature of the beetle - the third generation if you will - is that its interior ergonomics and packaging are based on entirely new configuration. While pilots flew air-cooled beetle in a very low seat height, and New Beetle drivers feel as if they were driver and the cover was so far away, the last Beetle Volkswagen now offers a streamlined, driver-focused coupe experience. Each device is within reach. In addition, Volkswagen has succeeded once again to implement a quality material that goes beyond all boundaries of class. The car's appearance, usability, functionality and quality interact to create a new car a friendship with a very special character.

The New Beetle is inside the cathedral. Opposite, the Beetle is now a little lower in the profile of the leadership of his predecessor retired. It now offers 1,044 mm of headroom in place of the above 1,082 mm. However, the 38 mm hardly be missed, even by great pilot, from inside the New Beetle was a "cathedral" of compact cars. Meanwhile, in the back seat, the long section of roof on a much larger feeling of space. The bootspace is much more important, now has 310 instead of 209 liters. As usual, the car has a split, folding rear kit, and a large trunk opening is easy to load and unload.

Several additional functions: to distinguish the VW Beetle

"Beetle," "Design" and "Sport." The new Volkswagen will be available worldwide in three equipment lines "Beetle", "Design" and "Sport." Each version is unique. In addition, the markets themselves will focus on certain aspects. Volkswagen will release the individual parameters of these levels of customization for a presentation of an international driving license for journalists. In addition to the three equipment lines, the ladybug can be customized with a wide range of optional features. An overview of some key features:

Bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights. Volkswagen Beetle offers bi-xenon headlights for the first time. 15 LED module xenon headlights frame and outer perimeters, put daytime running lights and parking lights.

Sunroof. It is transparent and can be tilted or opened. Therefore, the correct name is: panoramic tilt / slide glass sunroof. Much more important: It is 80 percent higher (surface of glass) than the previous model. In addition, insulating glass blocks 99 percent of UV radiation and 92 percent of thermal energy.

Radio-CD, radio and navigation systems. New Beetle was available exclusively to radio-CD has been specially designed for this model. Not offered navigation systems. Now, Volkswagen has taken a completely different approach and offers all the systems available in other sets of models like the Golf, Jetta and Passat VW New Beetle, as well. Standard Beetle is the RCD 310 and 8 speakers, which is an excellent sound system (includes two tuners). Top RCD 510 audio system with integrated CD changer, an SD card and touch screen interface. Affordable entry-level satellite navigation system is the RNS 315 touchscreen and 5-inch (400 x 240 pixels), CD player, SD card slot and two receivers. Top satellite navigation system is a model of the RNS 510, it offers improvements such as a 6.5-inch touch screen, DVD player, voice control, SD card slot and 30-gigabyte hard drive.

Premium Sound System with Fender. All about the world of rock music is familiar with such greats as Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. The first played Fender guitars, while the latter still does not work. Now, the legendary American producer of musical instruments and amplifiers - a joint venture with Panasonic - not sharing his expertise with the Volkswagen brand. The result is a system of Fender's voluntary that is offered in the Volkswagen Beetle with a woofer and an additional power of 400 watts. Those who choose this audio system also adjustable ambient lighting inside. In addition to providing indirect lighting, also includes two light rings around the speaker boxes in the doors. In Europe, the Volkswagen Beetle on the first car to offer a sound system Fender.

Keyless entry. Lock keyless entry and engine start system is introduced in the Volkswagen Beetle, which operates without a door or ignition key. When one of the main door handles are affected, the system detects an access authorization of an issuer in the person's jacket, pants or purse, and then opens and allows the beetle to start the engine through the engine start button. The blockade of the Volkswagen from the outside, also is activated by pressing one of two door handles, in this case, however, a specially marked area is used.

All round safety. Let us focus. In Beetle, Volkswagen is building a car that is one of the safest in both active and passive safety. Naturally, the ESP electronic stability program are standard, which is an efficient network of six airbags that protect the cockpit. Naturally, the bodywork of the car - much of the laser-welded galvanized - an exhibition of the best values of torsional rigidity in the segment of 26,000 Nm / °. Naturally, because security is a fundamental quality in a Volkswagen.

superior fuel economy of 40 mpg and 4.3 l/100 km: Engines

U.S. diesel with 140 hp. When it comes to engines, all signs point toward sustainability. United States, the VW Beetle is available as a turbo diesel for the first time. The Beetle 2.0 TDI (103 kW / 140 hp) complying with all emission limits of the United States and achieves 40 mpg fuel economy in the cycle of the highway is 29 mpg city and 33 mpg combined . Consequently, the Volkswagen Beetle is a good choice as one of the cars most fuel efficient in its class. In addition, Volkswagen has not only excellent fuel economy values in the version with a manual gearbox 6 speed, but also - and this is a start and technical Beetle - with transmission option clutch 6-speed double.

gasoline engines in the United States with 170 hp and 200 hp. values of fuel economy has also improved in the 2.5-liter five-cylinder petrol, already a hit in the previous model. VW Beetle manually moved to 22 miles per gallon (city) 31 mpg (highway) and 25 mpg (combined). His counterpart with a 6-speed automatic is 22 miles per gallon (city) 29 mpg (highway) and 25 mpg (combined) - which represents an increase of up to 10 percent in fuel economy. Pioneer: even the Beetle 2.0 TSI 147 kW / 200 hp reaches a combined fuel economy of 25 mpg. The great TSI is also available with a choice of 6-speed DSG gearbox.

engines in the world, with 105 hp, 140 hp, 160 hp and 200 hp. In markets such as Asia, Australia, Europe and New Zealand, the new Volkswagen Beetle is offered exclusively with charged engines. All engine versions - all with four cylinders - used for the first time in this series of models. Car parts significantly reduces the values of fuel consumption and emissions compared to the previous model with the transition to turbo gasoline (TSI) and turbo diesel common rail direct injection (TDI). The three petrol responsible for the production of the Beetle 77 kW / 105 PS, 118 kW / 160 PS and 147 kW / 200 hp engines. The two diesel engines developing 77 kW / 105 hp and 103 kW / 140 hp (TDI not available in China). The five motors can be combined with a dual clutch transmission as an option.

The engine with 160 hp and 200 hp in detail. Although the rapid evolution of 225 kmh VW Beetle 200 hp 2.0 TSI consumes energy only 7.4 l/100 km (equal to 173 g / km of CO2) and manual transmission. It is also very economical 1.4 TSI 160 PS is transferred to the "7-speed DSG transmission, the Beetle, consumes just 5.9 liters per 100 km (139 g / km CO2), the data of fuel consumption, as this makes the Beetle 1.4 TSI DSG (maximum speed.: 207 kmh), a pleasant surprise for the engine program. In comparison, the predecessor of 110 kW / 150 HP reaches a value of 8.9 l/100 km for the automatic version . While the 10 PS more power, fuel consumption decreased by 3.0 l/100 km or 34 percent.

Differential Lock larger gasoline engine. To ensure that the strongest power the two versions of Volkswagen Beetle was successfully applied to the road in the curves are fast approaching, and patterns of 160 horsepower (European version) and 200 hp (worldwide) are equipped with a factory installed electronic differential lock XDS. This system extends the familiar functions of EDS. XDS improves handling when driving fast curve and calibrate the car to the more "neutral" control, which used to stop active intervention to avoid wheel spin the wheel without charge within the curve, which improves traction.
