We had our Lunch There
The place was nice and stylish.  It was crowded during lunch, and it could be quite noisy.  We were served well initially, but as the crowd grew, the promptness of service got degraded too.  The food was yummy, and we saw quite a number of people ordering the burger, it must be tasty too.

Marina Bay Sands opens its doors

Singapore's second integrated resort, Marina Bay Sands, opened its doors on today at an auspicious time of 3.18pm. Members of the public will be able to visit the resort from 5pm.

The casino has four levels, and two levels are for mass gaming while the other two are for VIPs. There are also over 1,500 slot machines.

When fully completed, Marina Bay Sands will have some 2,500 hotel rooms.

The resort's shopping area boasts luxury stores, and four floors of shopping space with 300 stores. But many have yet to open.

There is also an events plaza, which can sit up to 10,000 people. It faces the sea offering a view of the Fullerton Hotel and the Esplanade.

Marina Bay Sands also has some 250 meeting rooms and its ballrooms can hold up to 45,000 delegates.

The rest of the resort is expected to open in June.

Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson said that he expects the investment in Marina Bay Sands to break even in five years.

Lai Wah Restaurant 丽华酒家

Located at Blk 44, Bendemeer Road, #01-1436

Stepping into this restaurant will bring you back into the 1960s immediately.  The decorations and ambience of the place seems to be left untouched since its opening, and even the waiters and waitresses seem to have worked there since the opening.  The table and chairs even looked like the were used since 1964. That is how old this cantonese restaurant is.

All the food tasted great! The restaurant is a must-try and a great family eat-out place especially with your grandparents or parents- those from the 65-ers.  Had not been there for quite sometime, and I sure missed it.  Used to go there quite often when I was young, and my mom and aunties loved to eat there.  I still remember that there used to be lots of wedding dinners, birthday, and full month celebrations there.

Opening hours

Mon–Fri
11am – 2.30pm, 6pm – 9.30pm
Sat & Sun
11am – 2.30pm, 6pm – 10pm

Nanxiang Steamed Buns Restaurant

Located at Bugis Junction, Level 2, Unit 53.

Nanxiang Xiaolongbao arrives in Singapore in all its authentic glory. It is a culinary icon and stalwart in Shanghai for more than a century, Nanxiang is an established brand that has gained international recognition, awards and undisputed popularity for their xiaolongbao, that it has become the benchmark Shanghai xiaolongbao.

In their bright and light space, Singapore's Nanxiang at Bugis Junction presents a welcoming face to customers. There is booth seating, which overlooks the busy North Bridge Road and regular tables, which take in the hustle and bustle of this Shanghai franchise.
For those who are no stranger to food travel TV programs, you would have seen well-known chef-author and now Discovery Travel + Living host Anthony Bourdain coming to grips with the xiaolongbao and sipping on the big soup bun through a straw at Shanghais Nanxiang in his show No Reservations.

I guessed their Crab Roe and Pork Filling Steamed Buns, & Fresh Pork Filling Steamed Buns are few of the better dishes. here In general, there are still differences in their standards with the Main restaurant in Shanghai. The noodles are quite nice too.

The staffs are jovial, and fun to talk to. I remembered that my visit yesterday was well greeted by many aunties. That's right, they employed quite a number of them, and they were quite chatty too.

It is worth to pay a visit, if you have yet to try out the authentic Fresh Pork Filling Steamed Buns in Shanghai. Whether it is worth it, only you can tell.

Opening Hours

Mon - Fri: 1130am - 10pm

Sat, Sun, and PH: 11am - 10pm
