Leh calamity,death toll reaches 135, hundreds missing still

Leh/Srinagar August, 07 (Scoop News) - The death toll in Cloudburst at Leh has reached 130 after recovering of more bodies, officials said.
Offical sources said that hundreds of missing people are feared washed away in the calamity.
They said the collective consciousness of the nation awakening in this hour of distress was evident when six surgeons from amongst the civilians including those who had come there for a holiday, toiled for over twenty- four hours shoulder to shoulder with the Army surgeons and doctors, to bring relief and succour to over 300 civilian patients, carrying out 22 major life saving surgeries and 45 of a lesser degree.  There are 94 people, who are still admitted, with the condition of 76 being considered serious.  

Death Toll rises to 60 and 150 injured in Uttar Banga-Vananchal Express Collision

At least 60 people were killed and 150 injured when a speeding passenger train ploughed through a train standing at a station in West Bengal's Birbhum district in the early hours of Monday.

The Sealdah-bound Uttar Banga Express rammed into three coaches, one luggage van and two unreserved general second class coaches, of the stationary Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express at Sainthia station in Birbhum, about 190 km from Kolkata, at about 2.15 a.m., railway authorities said.
