Before purchasing this phone, I'd read many reviews, most of them positive. I've had the phone for three weeks now, and can say that the reviews were right on. No complaints - but I must add that there are many features I've not used yet, because the rates on my AT&T pay as you go are too high. Will wait till I return to India and and unlimited data plan to really use the phones features.

Many people have complained about battery life. My experience has been that when the phone is used just to make a few calls, add tasks, look up dates, run the calculator, etc. the battery will last 4 or 5 days.

I bought this phone directly from Amazon. It arrived with English user guide (but the phone was in Spanish when I turned it on first time), with a short warranty card. Had an earphone in the box and looked really new (I bought one before from the OEM shop and had serious doubts that I got a brand new phone).

It has had 837 Mb RAM and 11.5+1.97=13.43 Gb (not 16 Gb) memory (probably Android takes the rest). About 230-250 Mb RAM is busy with your stuff running, the rest is free. The free internal memory is 11.5+1.97 Gb=13.43. It functions really well. It's fast, it's nice, it's light. So far so good.

This phone is amazing. Really great. A bit expensive but worthy. Thank you Amazon.

Samsung Galaxy sii is by far the prettiest, sexiest, fastest phone yet. My first impression was great of the screen but the back seemed flimsy compared to others but after using it for awhile I realized I really prefer it as it is very comfortable to hold in your hand and it very very light because of that. I also think that helps in damage control if dropped. Everything about it is super great except for the AT&T bloatware. I am waiting to see how Nexus Galaxy compares because it wil not have all that AT&T bloatware on it that one can not delete! Definitely this Samsung Galaxy sii beats the iPhone hand down. IT is customizeable andwins in every way except you may miss the club med experience of visiting the apple store - but I can do that with the galaxy sii in my hand instead of that iphone.

Apple earned itself a black eye during the antenna debacle after the iPhone 4's launch, leading the highly respected Consumer Reports to recommend against purchasing the ubiquitous smartphone. (They didn't think they were holding it wrong.) Apple's solved its reception issues for the most part, and Consumer Reports has responded in kind, recommending the iPhone 4S to their readers - but not above high-end Android phoneslike the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Motorola DROID BIONIC. The put-down is another blow for Apple, which continues to trail behind Android in market share.

ComScore reported today that one in ten mobile customers over the age of 13 own an iPhone. This number is derived not just from smartphones, but from the entire mobile phone market. ComScore's numbers show Apple is fourth in overall handset marketshare in the US. This puts Apple behind Samsung, LG, and Motorola. This number is artificially low because dumb phone market is populated by these other manufacturers.

Chanaccord Genuity reported that Apple earns 52 percent of all profits in the mobile phone industry. You heard that correctly. With only 10% of the market, Apple earns 50% of the profits. The only company that is somewhat close is Samsung at 29% of the profits. I tried this new iPhone and all I can say is that I thought is was half the phone of Samsung galaxy sii and other android phones. It seems like a toy rather than an electronic. I returned it to my local apple store, but after seeing the club med atmosphere there, I invested sizeably in apple stocks. They are fantastic marketers with huge profit margin over all the competitors. I don't want to own apple products but I am so thankful for those that like the apple line and boost my apple stock prices! Thank you apple fans!

Siri isn't even really new. At the Hong Kong event where Google and Samsung introduced the Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Matias Duarte, product management director for Android, answered some direct questions from the crowd. When asked to compare Siri with Android's built-in Voice Control features, he responded with an analogy that any self-respecting geek can identify with. Duarte compared Siri with the bumbling protocol droids like C3PO from Star Wars, while Voice Actions are more like the U.S.S. Enterprise's computer, where voice controls every function.

Here's Duarte's complete quote: Well, we don't like to set ourselves in a head-to-head kind of way, you know, Apple makes terrific products, I think Siri is great; I think it's really hard in the long run to follow strategy of making kind of an artificial personality. You know, it can be really funny at first, but that uncanny value of just, uh, having a personality that you start to interact with, um, as you would a person, with all the contextual ambiguity you would with a real person - that's a really challenging approach, and they're going for it, that's great. Our approach is different. The metaphor I like to take is - if it's Star Wars, you have these robot personalities like C-3PO who runs around and he tries to do stuff for you, messes up and makes jokes, he's kind of a comic relief guy. Our approach is more like Star Trek, right, starship Enterprise; every piece of computing surface, everything is voice-aware. It's not that there's a personality, it doesn't have a name, it's just "Computer."

I've often thought that Apple's insistence on calling Siri "her" made it out to be more than it is, a series of keywords hooked into various web and app actions. Android's Voice Actions is actually pretty similar, even if it's designed to act like a command rather than a conversation - when activating the Navigation app, I've often felt the urge to say, "Computer, navigate to movie theater." The idea of Siri as everyone's least-favorite golden robot, the essence of form over function (not to mention self-important obsolescence) doesn't hurt either.

Make no mistake, Siri is impressive, it's just not the revolution that Apple wants you to think it is - Android has been doing the same thing and more for years, if admittedly in a less intuitive way. Whether you prefer saying "Siri, wake me up at five" or "Set alarm for five AM" is really a personal preference... perhaps at least as personal as your answer to Luke versus Kirk.
