Available in 3 colors: white, black and merlot, the phone looks less plastic and has a soft-touch back, but still they all look good. HTC myTouch 3G is slim and light measuring 113 x 56 x 14.7 mm and weighing 116 grams. It comes with 3.2 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 65k colors. The screen is very clear and bright as it is using Corning Gorilla Glass. The screen supports both portrait and landscape view. All text input is done by using virtual QWERTY keyboard that can be set in portrait or landscape mode depends on phone orientation. Below the screen are an excellent trackball along with Home key, Menu key, Back key, Search key, Call key and End Call key. End Call key also serve as Power button. On the back of the phone, we can see 3.15 Megapixels camera with autofocus. It can record video and capture images. The camera has no flash, so indoor unwell light shots will look dim. But outdoor shots with well light will look good.
HTC myTouch 3G is a fairly good phone. It runs on global GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks and HSDPA 1700/2100 network. And it is powered by Android OS version 1.5 (Cupcake) that make all the application works into its best performance. Android also allows users to write custom Java codes from Google Java library and create their favorite application easily.
The built-in functions of HTC myTouch 3G include an address book and calendar that synchronize with Google accounts. Customized home screen in which you can drop icons of your choices. For surfing internet, there is an excellent Web browser that handles full Web pages, but not Flash. For messaging feature, there are SMS or MMS client, Gmail client and a separate email client (POP3 and IMAP).
Other applications on HTC myTouch 3G are alarm clock, calendar, contacts, music player, YouTube player, web browser, Google Maps, Android Market, IM client, SMS client, MyFaves, Amazon MP3 store, calculator, voice dialing, photo viewer and settings. All application can load faster and run in background. Thanks to its Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz ARM 11 processor, memory of 192 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. External memory can be improved via micro SD slot card up to 32GB. GPS system integrated in the phone is excellent and can lock on to GPS satellites quickly.
