Twitter exposes patterns of unequal geographic development

Tracking geo-located tweets for a few hours in Europe shows some interesting patterns of inequality in Italy and Spain. Italy we see a clear difference between north and south with Milan having more people tweeitng than Rome. In Spain we see two very interesting distributions. Firstly a classic center concentration shows the importance of Madrid as the Capitol of the nation. But Spain shows another pattern with tweets also running almost the entire coastal range. This shows distributions of population and wealth.
