Benghazi tweets

BBC News - Libya starts to reconnect to internet

As the revolution in Libya appears to be entering a major end phase the people of Benghazi are taking to tweeting. We are seeing very heavy concentrated tweeting from the city now, when a few months ago we saw nothing.

This is a major sign that Libya is moving to a period of greater normality and social integration post Qaddafi, and is a overall positive indication for the process of change in the Arab world. Though social media and mobile media don't make democracy they do open communication possibilities between the people in the area, in the region and globally.

The rise in Benghazi tweeting is a lot like the surge in overall Arab tweeting we saw during the Egyptian Revolution. The Arab world is now embracing tweeting as what is clearly a major communication media.
